Nice one, and not in the most common 5.5” barrel length. “Aged” elk grips by forum member "bigmtnman” would look great on it. I’ve been admiring his work and he’s the next guy I’ll contact when I want new elks.

I second Wyatt Burp's recommendation of Bigmtnman's work. I have a number of his stocks and could not be more pleased.

I believe this one was made before changes to safety (lock work), frame contour, and barrel-frame abutment. I believe the lock changes were developed for their Official Police-sized frame in 1905. Lock work and frame contour changes occurred when War Department accepted Colt New Service Model 1909 as interim standard side arm. All of these changes became OEM for Colt New Service when War Department approved Colt Model 1917 as substitute standard side arm for the remainder of New Service's production life.

These grips are from him. (same gun from the Colt forum I posted but with his grips).
Here's his grips on my Ruger.

I was starting to think I had the only 38/40 New Service there was. Never hear anyone tell of having one. Mine's 1914. Picture cropped from one of my daughter shooting .
