Default Buying one for the grips

Has anyone ever bought a gun just because you have a pair of grips for which you need a home? I have a set of round butt Ahrends that I refinished in tung oil varnish and they came out looking sweet, but I don't have a round butt k-frame to put it on.Whhaaa.

Have a set of N round butt that I want to keep. They are on a 6” 625 right now but looking for something else that is a little lighter. The 625 JM for sale by Ohioseabee in the classifieds is abt 6 miles from me. Very accurate guns. I’ll call him tomorrow. Hmmmmm, Larry

I haven't done that with grips but I have been known to get a good deal on a set of reloading dies and then going out and finding something in that caliber so I could use the dies.

I bought a 4in Model 29-3 recently. I told myself it was nostalgia over the one I traded away 25 to 30 years ago but it was more because I had a set of Culina smooth cokes in American holly that needed a good host.

I haven’t done that yet! But I plan to because I’ve almost completed a full collection of standard N-frame stocks from Triple Locks to the 1990s. So if I started buying guns for all of these stocks it would get very pricey!!! I’ve got a few sets of Registered Magnum stocks and empty boxes waiting for the .357 to come along.

I think I've used every "reason" under the sun to justify buying a gun, but that's a new one...so, I think I'll order a set of grips, so I'll then need a gun for them to go on.

Yes, bought this four screw pre-29 because I had a set of cokes. Kind of a funny story on the cokes too, they came on a 1950 45 ACP (pre-26) at a gun show about 20 years ago. The "old guy" I bought it from ($400) apologized that it had the wrong stocks. It was a long time before I knew what cokes were and what they originally came on; at least I hadn't traded them for some Pachmayers along the way.

I had a friend that was a sucker for neat holsters at gun shows, then start looking for gun's to fit them.

I have bought a few gun because of the shoes they were
wearing.
Bought this awhile back off GB for $900.00 IIRC.
Peeled the grips and put on some magnas.
These combats will bring around $250.00 at the next show.

I bought a blued 6" M25-5 from GunBroker which had a pretty nice set of Cokes on it along with the presentation case, paperwork and tools. Swaped a set of period correct GA targets for the Cokes and sold it for a couple of dollars more than I paid. You have to come out on top of some deals once in awhile.

How bought buying one for both but knowing they're getting separated immediately?

The OD is a keeper and the stocks will bring back a good chunk of the total price.

Yup, last one was a 1953 vintage K-22 sporting a set of non relieved targets. Did not have a set of non relieved targets so I just snarfed that one up. Still on it as it shows off the grips nicely.

The only reason I have a Colt Gold Cup is the elephant ivory I had laying around for it.
