Default Colt Anaconda & Springfield 1903

Actually saw a Colt Anaconda today. I would call it 90%-95%. Felt pretty good. Priced at $1999. Is that the going rate now a days for them. We all know the Python's are crazy. Just got me wondering.

The Anaconda is really not all that desirable and a bit oversize and clunky. . .to me anyway. There has been one out for sale at my LGS for months now. It just lays there. The price you mention is about right if you can find somebody who wants one. It was a rather short production gun. I don't think it ever really caught on like the Python. My LGS sells the Pythons as soon as they get them while the Anaconda just sits collecting dust. Maybe it's a sleeper and will someday be worth bunches of money.

I looked up some info in the Blue Book. From memory of looking at it I'm pretty certain it was the 1990-1999 production run & it has the original rubber grips with gold Colt emblem on it. There were some scratches at the cylinder release. Other than that just some minor wear.

Anacondas did a quick run up in value between 7 and 2 years ago.I think they've probably dropped a bit or leveled off.I had a 4 inch that was a fantastic shooter, really liked it,but I couldn't turn down the offer I got for it.

I've had a .44M Anaconda for over a decade. I like it as much as any of my S&W 29s / 629s. That said, I sure wouldn't pay $2K for one. On the other hand, I mine isn't for sale, even at today's prices. FWIW.

I bought a 4" 45LC anaconda when they first came out. Heavy, clunky and with that "SLOPPY" Mk V action. Also lead barrel with all Dia's. of cast bullets. It got gone fast! As a shooter I would not have another. Over priced and VERY over rated.

Saw a 4" .44 at a gunshow today, priced ay $2K. Would much rather have had the 6" 629 P&R priced at $950, with the box & docs. Alas, not enough $$$'s,

I really want a DX with all the stuff for that Anaconda price

The gun shop also had a Springfield 1903 that appeared all original except for the rear peep sight that was added. It was $1499

Up here in Montreal, you could get a pail full of $$$$ even for an angry mother in law if you only put a COLT sticker on her!I've seen .32 short(not even the 32 S&W long)clunkers go for over $500 just because they were Colts.
While I like Colts(got a Python,a Gold Cup and a Combat Commander in nickel),IMO there is a craze going on that inflates prices.Maybe I should sell them now!

Most Colt owners/collectors just pack "em' in a safe and fondle them once in awhile and brag about what they got. They are mostly scared to used them as it will devalue them. I know my son is one.........I don't know where he picked up that gene?

Had the chance to get a lightly used 4-inch, 44mag, Anaconda just a few years back at a "very" good price; one that I could shoot and carry and not really devalue it......I thought I needed the $$ for something else. I still regret not getting it.
