Looking for old Remington rifle Model number.
Hi guys. I am trying to remember the model number for a 30-06 Remington pump rifle that came with the monte carlo stock , more stylish pump grip and what looks like the bottom of a shell casing on the receiver. If i remember right they were offered in the 80s or 90s.
I am going to buy a new back up deer gun once our Pa hunting season is over and used rifle prices become more negotiable.

My official guess would be the Model 7600 but possibly the 760. The 760 was made until the early 80's or so. The 7600 was the rifle that replaced it.

The 7600 is the standard model of remingtons pump. It is my first and current deer gun. There was a fancier version with a cheek rest, better wood and fancier checking. Only made it a year or two i think. Held one two years ago at a LGS but forget the model number. I want a second pump gun for backup but do not want the exact same gun.

Thanks and, Yes you are correct the old basket weave Rems came with the cheek rest but thats not the one i am after. I have been told to stay away from them as they have receivers that have later been much improved upon. The gun i held has a tell tale piece. Its what looks like the bottom of a shell case on the bottom front of the receiver. Was done a short while i was told at the shop.
Still searching online for it.

Yep the Model Six paplinker. Only made about 36,000 of em. Came out with the fancy Model Four semi auto also from 81-87. Got one of them. Hope issues improved over the 742. Nice looking guns.
