IWI X95 5.56 VS FN PS90 57X28 WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER?
Guys, I got a great deal on my IWI Tavor X95 and paid $1650. The PS90 I just bought paid $1400+ tax...ugggg! Comparing the two rifles, it seems ridiculous to even consider the PS90 when you can get a much better quality build in the IWI. My greatest dislike of my PS90 is it is cheaply made, if you drop it from 5 feet you can expect a crack in the stock, and the barrel is pencil thin. I like heavy barrels and/or hammer forged that is built tough. The Tavor is built like a tank and it is an awesome rifle.
Other things I do not like about the PS90 is red dot sight sits way too high unless you get a proprietary Red dot designed for the PS90 which costs a fortune. The ammo for 57 is also very expensive. Also been told PS90 is a niche market so wondering what kind of buyers buy them?

Ammo; 5.56 everywhere, 5.7 not so much. Easy choice for me. Joe

I agree but the PS90 i super cool and probably better for home defense. But then again you can probably imitate ballistics of 57x28 by using 40gr 5.56

Thanks for posting this. To be frank, I did not even know what a PS90 is. I have seen a Tavor. The PS90 is very interesting. I am watching a Hickok45 video on it now. The magazine design is simply amazing—50 rounds too.

the one caveat about the PS90, getting a red dot will be a real pain. The AR15 red dots like Sig's Romeo7 will sit too high, even with a low profile mount still too high. So hold over is like 5" above barrel. They do make a specialized red dot but it is so small, you can't really see much. The stock iron sights totally suck. I have therefore, resigned myself to just use for home defense and I attached a tactical light that mounts on top and I plan on only point and shoot.
the build quality is cheap and the $1400 price is a ripoff. I would rather just get the IWI X95 which I love very much. I do like the PS90 and it is fun to shoot, good home defense, but overpriced

I don’t know if you have seen the Hickok video but he basically says the same thing as you. In fact he says “it looks like it came from Wal-Mart.”
How does the round “spin around” in the magazine to enter the chamber? That looks like it would be a problem area, going from horizontal in the magazine to vertical to enter the chamber?

The factory FN mags work fine but there are some aftermarket rollers that make it smoother. The aftermarket mags don't work well.
For $1400 there are better rifles for the money but do I regret buying me PS90? No I love this gun and it is fun but only buy it if you have money to blow.
