I love seeing pictures of all those fine Single Action revolvers. A few of my favorites:
A Colt in 44 Spcl/44-40 with 5 1/2" barrel.
A Ruger Buckeye Blackhawk with 2 cylinders in 32-20 and 327 Fed Mag.
A Colt Longbranch Model in 45 Colt.
A US Patent Firearms in 45 Colt.
And a Colt Sheriff's Model in 44 Spcl/44-40.
All good shooters that are a pleasure to own.

Cowboy Guns
First up is my Henry Big Boy in .357 Magnum with my two Uberti '73 Cattlemen revolvers in 44/40. The oldest of the two revolvers is on the right, with the ring around the cylinder. The other, which differed only in the two position cylinder retaining pin and with a square rather than angled rear sight profile was bought over 20 years later.
Below the revolvers is my Damascus steel 10" Bowie knife. I know I bought it locally but not sure where it was made. One day I should really get it professionally sharpened because right now it will not cut cleanly. But gee it would be a shame to place sharpening marks on that steel.
Next up, top to bottom.
Pre AE 1894 30/30.
Henry Big Boy .357 Magnum.
Rossi Puma 1892 Stainless 44/40
Chiappa .22 LR

Here is my German Model 1883 Reichsrevolver, inherited from my father. It is in 10,6 German Ordnance caliber, which is interchangeable with .44 Russian. My grandparents immigrated here from Germany shortly before the war started, and my grandfather brought this with him (as I understand it). It is unusual to find one in this condition, and with the original holster.
I do hand load for it, and occasionally shoot it. Of course, it is not for sale for any amount of money.

Cimarron Uberti SAA in .45 Colt, black powder style frame, 5-1/2" barrel.
This was my first attempt at this type of holster.

Cimarron Uberti SAA in .44 WCF (.44-40), smokeless style frame, 4-1/2" barrel. Incorrect fake stage grips I modified to fit.
I made the holster and repaired and modified an old, torn-up Mexican belt.

For my gun shown in post #59, here is another holster I made for it (my version of the one John Wayne used in some of his movies).
That first holster I gave to a friend with the same type of gun, but no holster! :-)

I really like that one. For some reason I've always had a love affair with holsters with that kind of wrap around the front of the holster.

Same here. I don't know if I did it right, but it works. I looked at a bunch of pictures and guessed on what the pictures didn't show, and ended up with how the holster turned out. That's OK, because I try not to copy anything exactly anyway!
For no particular reason, I lined it with pig skin.

Are you making holsters for sale or just personal?
The pigskin is a nice touch on a western holster.

Centaure 1860 revolver made in Belgium in the 1960's for the American Civil War centennial. You can read about these guns here 1960NMA.org
I made the holster and gave it an "antique" treatment (to match the gun!).

Here's one of the uberti 22 replicas, a schofield replica, and a Remington 1875 replica. I've got three of the 22 colt 1873 replicas, one full sized with 4.75" barrel, one 5/6ths in 4.75" barrel and one 5/6ths with 5.5" barrel.
I also have a couple of colt frontier scouts, a k series (nickel) and the Florida commemorative.

My .357 magnum Ruger NV Montado rides comfortably in a high rise pancake holster when I'm out in the woods. It compliments my 1873 Winchester in the same caliber. I also have a fixed sight, 5-inch barrel .22 LR Ruger Single Six for plinking. While I don't shoot them much, and with the same degree of accuracy as my S&W DA/SA adjustable-sight revolvers, the Rugers are a load of fun. The snubby Montado is more than sufficient for point shooting at close range.

When I first started shooting I really wanted a Winchester 9422. But they cost so much back then I stuck with bolt actions. I was thinking of a Henry Golden Boy rimfire to mach my Big Boy but really could not justify it. I already have a Stirling bolt action .22 with suppressor, scope and streamlight for night time bunny/possum busting and a Brno #2 for field target work, so a third rimfire worth more than both combined just for CAS rimfire side shoots was out of the question. Then I found the Chiappa on a local auction site at a price that could not be ignored..
So far I have really only had a chance to sight it in. To be honest the open sights are a bit too course for my taste and accuracy isn't as expected. But the action is slick and the trigger quite nice if a bit heavy. I will probably end up putting a 4 X scope on the rifle at some time which should improve accuracy with quick detachable rings so I can use in for CAS shoots where X ring accuracy isn't needed.

These are mine that I purchased in the early 80's. I used them for SASS matches and have shot tens of thousands of rounds (.45 Colt) through them. When this photo was taken about 8 - 9 years ago I had just them refinished up at the Colt Factory as they were pretty shabby after all the CAS shooting. Colt did an AMAZING job and they look better than they ever did as they were never case colored this well in the 80's. The genuine Ivory's do net get their due in this photo but are spectacular in person and they have aged really nicely. I think it's time for a new picture but until I get to it, here are some of mine. I've also got a set of Nickel with Sambar Stag which I might photograph as well.

Hey, Duke. I saw your Shane gun and rig at another gun forum about single actions. What a great and accurate set up. Just perfect. You have to post the Shane holster sometime.

Yep, count me in. Fan.
Left to right:
3 Screw Super. One of three I bought in 1978. This one I paid the most for - $75. Sold the other two. DUMB.
3 Screw .45 Colt. I changed out the hammer for a Super. Still have the original hammer.
Great Western .44 Special. No finish left but great shooter.
Herters .22. My Dad’s only gun. Was a 5 1/2”. Had it cut back to 4 3/4, then Ceracoated.

I love single actions. they balance well, point well and ride the recoil much nicer than double actions. I have an old Ruger Super Blackhawk, from 1964, that I used for field shooting and hunting. This gun can handle some very stout ammo and is very accurate. For its use I prefer it to any Model 29. I know it is slow to load and it is only a 5-shooter to carry but I have all the confidence in the world in it.

The first handgun I bought when I turned 21 was a Ruger Vaquero in .45 LC, with birds head grip.
Great gun and wish I didn't sell it. Had one or two opportunities to buy the same gun (not same SN) but was always looking for my next best S&W. I had one Colt SAA in .45 LC and now am looking for one in .44 special....
I was born way after the cowboy and western films but there is something about a SAA that just makes sense. I'll get another one, but not sure when. Best, TH

I'm glad you posted that photo so folks can compare the bird's-head grip on Rastoff's Uberti with the grip on your gun. yours has what I call "Lightning/Thunderer"-style bird's-head grips and they are authentic to the 1880s. Rastoff's are authentic to the Hollywood movies of fifty years later!
But I think the Hollywood version is better looking!

It's too bad that the Colt Lightning was such a delicate little flower, because it was sure a handy sucker to hold.

Yes I’m a fan. I have a Ruger new model flattop Bisley Blackhawk in .44 special. They way it points, the way it handles, the way it shoots like a laser sure make it one very cool gun. A joy to shoot, something nostalgic about it even though I was never a western fan.
3 guns high on my want list are a Ruger bearcat, the ruger new model super Blackhawk Bisley hunter and the ruger birds head vaquero sheriffs model in .45 acp/colt.

Yep, count me in. Fan
Left to right:
Ruger Super 3 screw. One of three I bought in 1978, also the most expensive - $75. Sold the other two. Dumb.
Ruger 3 screw .45 Colt. Replaced the hammer with a Super but still have the original.
Great Western .44 Special. Finish gone but great shooter.
Herters .22. Only gun my Dad ever owned. Was a 5 1/2”. Had it cut to 4 3/4”, then Ceracoated.

Yes and yes.
When I got the gun the grips were covered in a thick, red varnish of some type. I hated it, so I stripped it off and put on a few coats of Formby's Tung Oil Finish. I was pleasantly surprised to discover some nice wood under the factory finish.

Here is my cut down Pietta reproduction of the Remington Model 1858. I bought it with a messed-up barrel, so I messed it up even further by cutting it back to 2-3/4". Then I rounded off the grip frame to my liking and gave it a hot-dip blueing.
Next I made the closed-toe cross draw holster; ideas gathered from a combination of a lot of photos I found on the 'net.

A Pietta 1860 in .44 that has what I have rarely seen, a fluted cylinder. Bought it back in the 90's.
A 3rd gen Colt SAA in .357 that I picked up a couple years ago for a decent price.

Here is my Uberti reproduction of a Colt Model 1851. The grips were exactly as described in post #90, so I gave them the same treatment and am satisfied with the results.
Next I made the cross draw holster; ideas gathered from a combination of a lot of photos I found on the 'net.

Pietta replica of a Remington 1858 Army. Note the unusual fully fluted cylinder.

Kind of forgot those.
All modern reproductions because I cannot afford orignals.
From Uberti.
Colt:
.44 Dragoon 2nd model
.36 Navy 1851
.44 Army 1860
.36 Navy 1861
.36 Pocket Navy 1862
.36 Pocket Police 1861
Remington:
.44 New model Army
From Pietta.
.36 Spiller & Burr
Remington:
.36 New model Navy (not really, it's more like a New Army in .36 caliber with a shorter barrel. Uberti did a real reproduction of the Navy, with the smaller frame, but I never got my hands on one )
.31 1863 pocket (my only nickeled pistol)
European American Arms:
.44 Rogers & Spencer
Pedersoli.
.44 Remington New Army (used in competition and X ring accurate at 25 and 50 meters)

I could never afford a real Colt SAA (hoping someday), but I have had a few Ruger Blackhawks, a Vaquero, and recently I picked up a Taylor's & Co. (Uberti) SAA in .32-20. The fit and the action are excellent. I wanted one in .32-20 because I have a Winchester 1885 in it, and when I am out during small game season, this caliber is more likely to get used.
