JUST RIGHT CARBINE 9mm
I have one that I had to have a gunsmith ream the barrel ahead of the chamber. The bullet would stick in the rifleing and when pulling bolt back it would pull the case off. also not many aftermarket triggers will work in it. Tried J.P. Enterprises springs in it and trigger would not reset. With that said and the reamer and went back to stock fire control group it is back to running 100%. Do wish I would have bought an AR platform carbine.

I built an AR9 last year. 100% reliable and 100% fun. Started with a PSA Glock Lower which is made by New Frontier Armory who also makes the Spartan 9mm Lowers for JoeBob's. The rest of the build was all Kaw Valley Precision. Faxon makes the KVP barrels and KVP components are of excellent quality. The most important part of an AR9 build is getting a heavy buffer. I bought Kaw Valley's heavy buffer kit and have not had a single issue. I'm currently assembling a .40 S&W upper for my PSA Glock Lower using all Kaw Valley but with an Aero M4E1 Upper and Atlas S One Handguard. The 9mm Lowers work with .40 S&W whereas to build an AR45 requires a dedicated .45 ACP Lower.

Marlin camp 9 takes 5900 series S&W mags-which are easy to find-inexpensive, and available in high capacity-up to 30 rounds. A good companion for my M-59 pistol.

I've handled them regularly at the shop. They seem extremely well made.
That said, I've never fired one . Nor can I say that I've ever sold one or know anyone who owns one. I believe the latter is due to their price. They are pretty sporty in comparison to others. When it comes to 9mm/40 S&W carbines customers seem to go for the cheaper KelTec Sub 2000 and HiPoint 95's. These fly off the shelves.

I'm a big fan of my Kel-Tec Sub 2K 2nd gen in 9mm. Glock 17 magazines. Compact. Fun to shoot. Great price. Runs ETS 31 round mags loaded with 30 rounds flawlessly. Folding feature is kind of cool as well.
Added: Tacticool rubber bolt tube cover; sling, rail mounted sling attachment; and fore grip.
(No idea why the attachment is posting upside down. Not the way the rotated/saved image is showing on my desktop.)

Just wait until you have the barrel threaded and screw on a Can with a supply of Mec Gar 20 round M59XX mags and a case or three of sub-sonic 9mm. Big smile, Big QUIET smile.
I ran across a bunch of Mec Gar 20 round mags NIB last year for the outrageous price of $11.00 per mag. Couldn't whip the AMEX out fast enough. I bought all 14 they had. Currently down to 4 of the 20 round Mec Gar mags as friends got jealous. Next time, I'll let them find their own.

The Marlin is A very smooth rifle.
Pricy because they are out of production but worth the price because of the pleasure they are to use.
I range shoot with mine and from a standing position with a sling it groups well at 25 and 50 yards. Its a bit of a chore to break down but its manageable . Ive been loading 115 HAP for it over 5 gr of Power Pistol. Lots of fun. Also works nicely with 115 gr FMJ over 4.1 gr of Bullseye . Soft recoil and good accuracy.
My only complaint is that the micro groove rifling does not allow for the use of a lead bullet. Very bad accuracy with out the FMJ.

I went with the Beretta CX4 Storm more than a decade ago...... They use my Beretta 92 magazines 15-30 rd factory and Mec-gar. Shorter and lighter than an M-4 configured AR.
Both of mine were about $500 IIRC

I've got a Marlin Camp Rifle which takes S&W Third Gen double stack magazines and a Gen 1 KelTec Sub2000 which takes Glock 17 mags. Both are fine rifles. The KelTec is folded up in the Jeep in a Doskicil 4 pistol case, and the Marlin gets out for can shooting some. Both are fine rifles, and you'd be happy with either. I really haven't heard anything bad about the other rifles mentioned so far as well. I really like pistol caliber carbines, and like pairing them with a pistol.

I have had the JRC in 9mm for about 2 years. It has shot without any problems.
The thing I really liked is that it can be changed to lefty very easily.
The grandkids love it. Between that and the 15-22 they do not get bored at the range.

Over the years, I've had 3 Marlin Camp 9 and 1 Marlin Camp 45. I kept the Camp 45.
We set dad's Camp 9 up like a M-1 Carbine with a stock mounted mag pouch. Then we put a Pro-Point 45mm red dot on it and zeroed at 50 yards. He had a raccoon problem. Solution: adjust the red dot's intensity to match the raccoon's eyes when reflecting a flashlight. Then aim at the raccoon's head, when they have 3 eyes pull the trigger. Dad got 5 out of 6 on a limb one night (not bad for a 72 year old at the time)! He ended up with no more problem!

I have a JRC 9MM that takes M&P mag's I have had no problem with it no FTF or FTE I also have a Ruger PC9 (which Ruger just came out with a new PC in 9mm) they both weigh about six lb. both shoot well out to 100 yds. I chose the JRC because I could get it used my M&P mags from both my F/S M&P and my M&Pc I enjoy shooting both.

I also like to pair a carbine with a pistol; same ammo and, even better, identical magazines. I seriously considered a Just Right 9mm carbine. Good build, decent price; but could not match any of my pistol magazines.
Bought a Beretta Cx4 Storm 9mm that matches my Px4 Compact. Picked up a dozen 20 round mags on sale at Beretta USA (BUSA) for ~$12 USD each. After thousands of trouble-free rounds through pistol and carbine, I'm very happy with this choice.
My Cx4 shipped with a hard carrying case that easily holds the Cx4, Px4, extra magazines, 9mm ammunition, and a cleaning kit for both guns. The Cx4 was designed for full auto firing and will shoot semi-auto as fast as one would like.
The Cx4 adapts completely to left or right hand shooting. Mine's configured for RH safety, ejects to the left with the charging handle on the right. Both Cx4 and Px4 are simple to take down and to clean, largely at the owner's preference as they have never failed.
My S&W 15-22 satisfies my yen for an "AR platform" carbine and is a family favorite for target shooting, but requires cleaning after ~100-150 rounds to avoid failures even with an improved extractor. Also, the 25 round factory magazines must be carefully loaded while the Beretta 20 round mags are simple to load.
Not sure how the OP plans to use the JRC. I rely on my Cx4 and Px4 for home and self defense plus fun at the range.

Kel tec sub 2000
I'm a carbine NUT. The Kel Tec 2nd generation is much improved over the old version. It took me a few tries to get mine sighted in, but after that, it's a blast! No soda cans on the range were safe from me and my gun.
I'm also going to build an AR carbine.
The new Ruger looks good.

Two of my shooting buddies just bought Ruger 9mm carbines that accept Glock 9mm magazines. No shooting results yet.

9mm Carbine
I check the 9mm carbine box off with a Rock River Arms 9mm AR. It is set up like all my M4’s, run it with metalform mags, 147 gr JHP’s and keep it handy in the house. Have a Surefire 6p for night use and an EO Tec 552 for sighting.

My prediction is that these new Marlins will be the horse to beat going forward. Seems like Ruger put some real thought into these!

Nope , the buffer is available and cheap.
Folks change the recoil spring for a heavier one.
