That' a beauty. Looks familiar but mine's a little more broke in. First handgun I ever bought and I still have it.

I've got one but yours is in a lot better shape. I've carried the finish off mine. They benefit greatly from better sights!

I'm looking for one to.
I want to carry it, so it doesn't need to be so pretty.

I dunno if it is the same for some others but to me the 4 1/4''bbl makes it point a lot better than my 5'' Govt models.
And the looks....it just means business!
Love the little beast!

My #1 Target Pistol is my circa 1974 Colt Gold Cup. I can shoot it very well, the trigger breaks like glass, and after 20,000+ hand loads I've never had a hic-cup! While the high end Ed Browns, Wilson Combats, Les Behr's are finely made, tight and precision firearms I find them too tight and rarely work well with reloads. If a Target gun won't reliably shoot my hand loads it's useless to me.
While the Colts don't currently enjoy the "status" of the ultra expensive high end ones, they usually shoot just as well and certainly more reliably! I sort of believe it's fallen out of vogue to own a Colt (sort of like it's out of vogue for a young person to own an American car now), BUT the American cars are IMO just as good if not better than the foreign ones today. The same goes with the Colt's IMO. BUT HECK....... let us Colt guys keep the secret so they don't raise the prices!
First 2 pic's are with Series 70 Gold Cup
3rd. pic. is with a Series 80 (unmodified in any way) Gov't. model

My series 70 Commander is a satin nickel version and I installed a flat mainspring housing. Very nice trigger.

That is my carry "Heater" when I have to go into
the naked city.
Packed/owned a Colt Combat Commander of some sort for
near 50 years.

Very nice!
My edc is a pre ‘70 Colt Commander with a fair amount of modification: bomar sights, checkered front strap and checkered flat mainspring housing, trigger work, fitted bushing and tightened up.
