I'm trying to find the diameter of a few models of HKS speedloader.
I have an Enfield no2 which I use HKS 10-a speedloaders for.

I am in the process of getting a webley MKV and a S&W 16-4.

from what I can see, the 16-4 is easily (well not always in the UK) served, with the 32-K loader from HKS. the 455 webley is a little bit harder, but I've found a few references that say a 29-M will handle them.

the problem I'm having is I can't find anywhere that gives any dimensions on these loaders. would someone be kind enough to post up for both loaders (32-K, 29-M), the;
overall dia. of the black part
height of the black part
overall dia of hole for cartridge.

this way I can double check before buying them that they will fit the pouch I use, and that the cartridge will fit!

I can give some info about the .455/HKS29 combination but not the .32 cal speed loader.

I checked the three HKS 29 speed loaders I have (not 29M that you specified) and got these results:

Dia. ranges from 1.660 to 1.663 inches.
Height ranges from .645 to .647 inches.
Holes for cartridges range from about .511 to .522 inches. (Also, holes are not always cylindrical).

I measured the rim diameter of some Fiocchi .455 Mk II cartridges I have and found them to be a fairly consistent .522. I tried putting (press fit) cartridges the speed loader with the .522 holes and found that they would go in but the metal knob could not be turned to lock the cartridges in place - it looks like the cartridge cases would need a deeper cannelure in front of the case rim for the tabs on the locking knob to turn into and engage; also, the diameter of the holes would have to be enlarged but there isn't much plastic between the holes for the cartridges.

Good luck with your experiments.

that is excellent, if not disappointing, thank you. are there different types of HKS 29? I can only see 29-M listed anywhere
Do you use anything to load 455's yourself?
I'd seen a few threads that talk of filing out 25-5 loaders, but that seems a lot of work to be lazy at the range

I believe the "M" suffix has to do with how tightly the speed loader holds the the cartridges in the speed loader body. Apparently a certain amount of jiggle is desirable in some speed loader/revolver combinations. (Some HKS speed loaders have an "A" suffix which indicates they hold the cartridges more tightly/less jiggle).

I was wondering why you were looking at the HKS 29 speed loader (made for 44 Magnum and Special) rather than one of the HKS 45 models made for the 45 Colt or the 45 Auto Rim. Even with the thin rim on the .455 cartridge it would seem a closer fit than a speed loader designed for .44 caliber revolvers. (Since my .455 is a Mk VI Webley I never thought about wanting a speed loader).

Good luck with your experimenting.
