Colt AR 15 A2 Delta Elite
AR 15 A2 Hbar Sporter Delta Elite from 1989, product code R 6600 DH
When this model came out, I was only 20 and broke so I could only dream of it.
20 years later, in 2009, I saw an add for a complete model with aluminium case and all accessories, so I fulfilled that old dream and snatched it.
The Delta Elite came in an aluminium case, with the Tasco 3-9 rubber coated scope, the cheek piece, a leather sling (****** one that fell apart) a Delta Elite emblem on the grip (****** sticker).
Urban legend says barrels were hand picked for accuracy.
I changed the grips for a regular Colt one, drilled the holes and hot glued medallions from a 1911 Delta Elite. Much nicer now.
I've used it quite a bit and it's a very nice rifle. I later added the Harris bipod. Considering a better trigger too (Geissele?).

They were very tactical cool before there was tacticool! I lusted after it back then. The concept now is a bit obsolete (especially the scope).

Classic, you continue to feed my lust! I love em' for what they are, not all AR's have to be floating rails all duded up and all. Pardon the pun, but "Classic" collectables have a spot in my heart.

maybe not be tacticool anymore but definitely classicool.
I had a friend in SC offer me a Colt AR from the 1960 with original scope and original Bayonet. Loved to have it, only not in our republic of NJ. Colt AR 15 is explicitely banned and bayonet mount is banned. Automatic triple banned and after more NJ law changes banning 'assault rifles with military features' it would be 4x banned. I left it in his safe...

Couldn’t agree more. I have yet to buy a flattop some day. Maybe.
