Bob is scoped
1949 Winchester Model 70 in .257 Roberts
Leupold M8 3x harvested from another gun and now sits on very affordable low aluminum Talley mounts/bases from Cabelas. Did not know if the Talley's would fit as they were not marked "pre-64." But bore sighting it at home across the living room it is zeroed in within 2" and hte bolt clears the rear bell.
I expect 1" groups at 100 yards

First gun I bought after moving to WY in 1981 was a Ruger 77 in Bob.(couldn't find one in S.D. before I left but did buy dies, brass and bullets so I was ready when the time came) Probably shot more game (several deer and a whole herd of speed goats) with the 257 than all the others combined. Great cartridge in a good shooting gun! Your Model 70 and C&L's 77 are great examples of classic rifles.

The .257 Roberts and 7X57 Mauser are two calibers I lusted for for years, but never acquired. That's a beauty.
