From what I gather from the link Les posted, they have committed 10,000 to be sold with another 10,000 barring some unforeseen circumstances.

I got the e-mail today.
"This email is to notify you that your order has been received and you have been assigned a number through the random number generating process. You will find your number listed below. At this time, we do not have enough 1911 type pistols to complete your order. Should the Army send us another shipment of sufficient quantity, we will use those 1911 type pistols to fill the next orders in line. Please do not contact us or reply to this email at this time.
Your generated number: 10263
Thanks,
CMP 1911 Program"
Well, just my luck. No gun for me this year. But I should be fairly early in next year's batch.
Oh well, at least I do know for sure that I'm on the list and the paperwork is on file. Honestly, I was beginning to worry as I wasn't sure if I put enough postage on the envelope.
I guess at this point its pretty safe to say that all of this year's allotment has been accounted for. The list will roll over and from what I understand there's no plans to take new applications for several years at least.
Ok then. Next year it is.

Now that's interesting.
"At this time, we do not have enough 1911 type pistols to complete your order."
So that means all 8,000 of the initial shipment, except for an unknown number that will go to auction, have been allocated/spoken for? Or are in the process of being assigned random numbers? Wow.
I knew they'd all sell, but they went really fast.

The positive thing is that I am on the list and will get my chance next year. After next year's election, who knows if any more will be sold?

Maybe that could work for us. Seeing as this batch sold so well, just maybe the powers that be might decide to release more pistols now. With politicians, its all about the money.
Of course, I won't hold my breath.

My number did come up, but the timing couldn't have been worse. Post Christmas, literally bought a car that week (previous car was struck by an uninsured driver and totaled), and didn't want to load up my CC any more than it already was.
When I put my name in last October, things were rosy! And probably will be again in a month or two. Oh well...they will hit the secondary market soon enough, if I really want one.

Don't be discouraged yet - it could take all of 90 days before they are ready to send the gun to you. I got my number a while back (1/26/2019) and still haven't gotten the phone call. I won't get worried until 4/26/2019

Well I got nothing but a high number. So I went out and bought a lightweight commander to take the pain away. Now I can save again in case they get more.

Weird thing, they called me again today and it was no problem to place the order. Service grade heading my way!

Yep. A 28-2 that's waiting for me to come pick her up too (going out of town for a few days). Two of the most iconic fighting handguns of the 20th century back to back! Swooning right now...

I was 2927 and I got mine 6 weeks ago. I love it. I have a thread here somewhere if anyone really wants to see it. For those who are debating accepting one due to unexpected monetary issues, I felt the same way, but I said to hell with it. This is literally a once in a lifetime chance and I went to through that trouble to enter the lottery. I wasn’t gonna say no, and I’m happy I didn’t. I can always make more money and I’ve forgotten about the cost. Worst case scenario, you accept the gun and if you really have to, you sell the gun later and make a profit. I was already offered $1500 for mine. I declined.
And there is just nothing like opening that CMP box for the first time and seeing what you got. I’ve bought three Garands from them and it is exciting. I just bought an M&P .45 2.0 since I needed another .45 to shoot since I’m
Not shooting a 75 year old gun a whole lot, and the excitement at opening THAT box surely wasn’t the same! It was like “Okay. It’s an M&P”

Just got the phone call from Casey at CMP yesterday, asking for my CC information for my spot number 29xx CMP 1911.
At first they misplaced the updated FFL I sent - my FFL's license was expiring/being updated during the period since I submitted the application package originally - but I kept good records and reminded them of the date when they requested the updated FFL, and when I replied with it. They checked, found me compliant, so no harm, no foul, I should be getting mine at my FFL sometime soon.
Can't wait to see it and will share pics and info when delivered. Good luck to all those who are waiting!

My random number is in the high 15,000's. Hopefully that means I'll be in next year's batch.

It was almost exactly 3 months since I received the email with my number in it. Should ship in the next few weeks & will ship overnight once it does. I’ll share photos once I pick it up. She said it would be either Service Grade or Field Grade.
I was 4597.

Woo Hoo!!
Got the call from Casey at CMP1911 at 9:27 this morning.... offered service or field grade, chose service. My RNG was 4677. I had received my RNG 1/24/2019, which I believe is 95 days.
I'll keep everyone posted as things develop.
All along I kept asking myself if I had done everything correctly, even though I had xeroxed all the application papers, and could see that I had....
I had managed to stay calm all this time, but am starting to get excited!!
Best Regards, Les

Bravo! I don't blame you for getting excited. What's that saying..."Good things come to those who wait"? Or something like that.
I'll be looking forward to seeing some good photos of your new pistol when you get it. Oh, and reading a range report, too.

Well, Cory, maybe I misunderstood her. I think she said that they had both service and field grades, and I said I would prefer the service grade. But I guess we’ll see, I have seen a few on the 1911 Forum that they listed as field grade, and they looked pretty much like the service grades to me....

Les,
She laughed when I asked. I said I had to try & she said that was not a problem. I spoke to Defanie today since my email said that's who I was to ask for when I called. I had to send an updated copy of the FFL.
I certainly hope for the Service Grade, but will be happy with either. I'm anxious to get it either way.

Update....
My credit card was charged at 11:00 this morning for $1050 (so I must be getting a service grade!). This afternoon at at 2:50pm I received an email from "1911" which says the pistol shipped FedEx overnight to the FFL listed in my package!!
Just wanted to share with you guys. I know how slow the time seems to pass, and then, suddenly everything seems to happen at once!! I'll update when I get it in my hands!!
Best Regards, Les

I never heard anything from CMP at all so I finally contacted them yesterday to ask if there was some reason I was never contacted. Was quickly advised my RGN was just over 15,000 so there must have been some glitch in the email. Anyway, nothing for me this year, but that’s OK. Maybe next time. I already have a nice 1943 Colt so I’m fine with guys that don’t have one at all getting theirs first.

It's here!!
On the busiest day of the year for me, but I had just time to stop by the FFL and pick it up this afternoon. Snapped a quick pic, will take more and better later.
Tag says Ithaca frame and Remington Rand slide.
I'm excited, but too tired to do anything but look at it. Dry, naturally, and the low light picture makes it look rougher than it is.
More later!!
Best Regards, Les

Well, well, well, looked this morning & saw the magical $1050 charge on my CC. Looks like I’ll have it soon.

Yours is gorgeous!!!

Les,
I'll go back & look. By serial number it looks like the frame was a 1943 Colt from what I found on the web. I'll go check the tag & report back.

I failed to mention in my first post. I'm beyond happy with it. I am thinking I'll get a "tanker" holster to go with it.
Plus this one can go with my other old GI 1911. It's a 1912 Colt frame with a Remington-Rand slide also. She has a 4 digit serial number. Now my Garand & Springfield 03-A3 have companions.

Colt frames are pretty easy to spot, even without a CMP tag, usually by the inspector's initials. In Cory's case, the GHD is for Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry.
Your Ithaca frame is equally easy to spot. Ithaca used several unique inspection markings on the left side of the trigger guard. And the inspector's initials are always FJA.

I believe your frame dates to 1944. 1944 serial numbers began with 1155000.

Our preacher used to pastor a church in Anniston, Alabama back in the
early 90s. Several of his members worked at the Depot... He told me of
one particular member that operated a crusher called ''CAPT CRUNCH''.
I guess one or two were spared by the ''CAPT''.. You did well CORY :-)

Can't wait to see it and will share pics and info when delivered. Good luck to all those who are waiting!

My CMP 1911 for lottery number 29xx has been received! A Remington Rand which purportedly dates back to 1944, plus a Checkmate magazine. Beautiful case and certificate. Owner's manual, cable lock, and dehumidifying stick (I believe). Very happy to have received this piece of history! God bless all who may have been called to service to carry this sidearm.

For those who needed to research frames, slides, barrels, mags, small parts to determine maker of those for military contract 1911/1911A1 go to www.coolgunsite.com. Best site i have found on this topic. I used it a number of years ago to educate myself before buying my 1943 Ithaca to assure it was all original.
Keep posting those pictures!!!!
