I have a fondness for "riot" or "combat" style shotguns and I seem to have accumulated everything from a Benelli M4 to a chopped Winchester Model 97 some stuff in between.

I think my favorite though is my Ithaca Model 37, it is just perfectly balanced and incredibly smooth!

870 Big Game

That’s a 870, synthetic camo stock, 20” Remchoke barrel with IC choke. It’s my hunting gun. Always loaded but Not in usual HD rotation, only out in rare circumstances. 9mm and 45s handle daily HD duty

Well officially they might not be true riot guns. For me they are close enough to that description! Sure as heck would be very well used if push came to shove involving a group problem, or something that goes bump in the middle of the night at my out in the boonies house!

I have a nine shot 590 and a 590M with a couple 10 round magazines to feed it. Both 12 gauge and legal as of now under NYS rather ridiculous gun laws.

No pics of these critters.

Smith&Wesson M-3000 Police Riot

Mossberg 590 with the sights and the bayonet lug

Mossberg 930 SPX

And a couple of coach guns. If I cannot take care of business with these I'm having an off day!

Since it said "riot gun" I won't use pictures of single shots or double barrels. I have this Ithaca:

I also have a couple of 870s but no pictures. I think one was destroyed in my April house fire but not both.

jsfricks shows us a picture of what I believe is a Remington pump action "firearm". Mossberg makes one of those, too. I have ordered a Remington for myself. It WILL do! ;)

Moved fulltime into my Beach cabin in April.
Had to have me a "space".
Currently remodeling one of the small bedrooms into my office.
First thing I made a space for....
Winchester 1300 Defender...only scatter gun I brought.

I have one other 1300/wood furn..a Remington 870 and a Custom
Remington 1100 cut down.

I like that Winchester model 12 a bunch!

Unfortunately all I have in the "riot gun format" is an old Police trade in "Wingmaster" 870 with an 18" on her. She isn't pretty, but works very well. It seems the more they have been used, the better they get. I also got a 26" Remington barrel that had been, believe it or not, threaded for Winchokes. Since I already had an old Win 101, I had plenty of chokes, Also have 3 Winchester model 21's of various gauges and styles.

The Remington has taken a turn at bird hunting when I am too afraid to take out the others listed above. The example I give is Chucker hunting in Nevada on steep slopes covered in shale. Sure enough - fell twice - and didn't worry about scratching it:D

I own quite a few fighting Shotguns. A couple are placed in the house, one is in my vehicle and one is next to the night stand

My favorite is the Ithica 37. . . First off it is a bottom ejector so you never have to worry about tossing empty shells in your partners face. Because it is a bottom ejector it works great for righties or lefties. Most importantly, it does not have a disconector, so I can be VERY fast with it if needed

I have a nice old pre-68 savage that I also keep because it is a slam fire like the Ithica

I also have a Remington Police 870 factory folder. I keep it for sentimental reasons, it used to be the trunk gun for the Commander of the Florida Highway Patrol. When he passed it came to me. Truth is I have never shot it

I have a Winchester 1300 Marine that is an extra

I have 3 WP shotguns. A 14" Mossberg 590 in marinecote and a older pair of 12" Remington 870WPs. These are the older Remingtons that needed the elevator change to use the Remington 1 3/4" shells. The new 870s have solved the problem of double feeding the short shells

I also have a Franchi LAW-12. It is a mean looking thing, but I still prefer to fight with a pump

The last one is a Coach gun that I built a few years ago when this SxS had it's barrels crushed in a robbery attempt. It is only two shots, but it looks scary as all heck if you are on the wrong end and it can fire both barrels at once

This is my new night stand gun

I love that Ithaca M37 and that short barreled side-by-side.
Curious, how did the SXS's barrels get crushed in a robbery attempt?

I'm loving this thread. Pictured below is my one and only humble example of, (if it counts as that is).. a Riot Shotty. It's in reality closer to a trench/style shotty sans a bayonet lug!

I picked her up for $375 out the door and rescued it from it's purchased configuration; which had a cheap/goofy rubber pistol grip and matching pump forearm.

I ordered a mint stock and forearm set from Numrich and promptly swapped out the cheap stock/forearm set and now it's much more usable in it's current format. This is especially true with 3", 15 count, Double OO Pellet loaded Winchester Buck rated at 1600fps. I installed a GG&G front sling attachment and a QD sling swivel on the buttstock. I left the sidesaddle shell carrier as it's quite usable and has good retention for 6 shells. Lastly, I installed a Mossy Heat Shield after running two full tubes at a sillouhette plate course and making the mistake of laying the barrel in front of the receiver over my shoulder after emptying the tube with the bolt and pump locked in the open position. Burned thru my T-shirt so bad I thought I was holding a branding iron on my trapezius/shoulder. I replaced the goofy fiber optic bead for a stock brass bead as well and have a Magpul MS1 dedicated sling for her. Lastly I replaced the magazine spring and follower with new ones with a tad more tension for more positive and smoother feeding. I like her a lot. I got the Mossy after trying to source an Ithaca Model 37 Police Special with a full tube with zero luck. I think it's a pretty good substitute but am always on the lookout for an Ithaca!

You're a wise man. We were issued those, too and they kill on both ends fired from the shoulder. I actually preferred hip shooting them.

Years ago, I had an Ithaca with the long mag tube that came out of a Chicago squad car. The barrel was full of cigarette butts and gum wrappers. I cleaned it up and gave it to a good friend when he moved away.

I now have an Ithaca with the deer barrel with rifle sights. I also have a Remington 1100 SF with a 20" barrel. There is also a Winchester 1200 with a field barrel. I have looked for a short barrel, without any luck. I found a short 1400 barrel once, but it would not quite fit.
