Very nice! In my mind High Standard built the very best .22's out there. I have 4 myself from an early Duramatic, then a First year Sport King, a Double nine from 1969 and the top dog is a "The Victor" made in Hamden. They can be fussy about the magazine and the feed lips have to be set perfect. So accurate that my indoor range is simply not long enough to give me any kind of challenge. They are so good it's kept me from buying a S&W in .22lr until just this month and I just had to have an Outdoorsman. Yours is sweet and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine. I always pick one out to go every range visit.

That is a fine .22. I miss mine. It was a lot more accurate than I was. Can you shoot your pistol given where you live?

I've had several Hi Standards over the years and wish I had held
onto more of them. The only ones I have now are a pair of HD
Militaries. I have a 4" that has the best trigger of any 22 auto
loader I've ever shot. Their top of the line pistols were equal to
foreign target guns that were much more expensive. Hi Std prices
are going through the roof. The only US target gun left is 41 S&W
Browning & Colts are gone too.

I shot my HighStandard in NRA Bulls Eye for a while. Then the revolver thing bit me hard and I went K-22. My HighStandard had the best trigger of any autoloader I have ever had dealings with. I will probably get flamed but I think my Supermatic Citation was a much better shooter than the S&W 41 I owned briefly.

This HS Citation 107 Military is certainly the best autoloader that I've had, the best trigger and so accurate with CCI MiniMag.
There are not many of it in Europe and shooters who have one keep it preciously !

I started shooting bullseye in 1961 in the Army and continued in civilian life. I shot a Model 41 for years until I tried a friends Hi-Standard. I couldn't get over the trigger. I bought one and sent it to Mike Curtis in the 90's to have the trigger done and had a light weight lined barrel milled to take rings done by a guy in Kingston NY until I shot that one out then a CPC barrel. This thing was an absolute tack driver. Shot many national match courses into the mid 290's with it. The trigger was an unbelievable glass rod break with absolutely no movement. Photo from when I sold it, shaking too much to compete anymore.

I agree with the High Standard accuracy and trigger. I shot one (a Victor) from 1983 until about 2002. It served me well in .22 Metallic Silhouette as well as Bullseye. There were several 290+ scores recorded with it. The only picture I could find was in it's final configuration with a Falcon barrel, Millet Red Dot, and Vitarbo grips. It still sits in the vault, and I should get it out and appreciate it again.

It's nice to have old friends like that! I have a twin to yours I picked up about four years ago and it shoots rather well.

This is a great thread. I have enjoyed it a lot. Thank to all who contributed, especially Frenchie. The only downers are me not shooting BullsEye anymore (nobody around here does that sort of thing) and me selling my HighStandard.

I've owned a number of Victors over the years, but never found the urge for a HS with bridge sights, as they seem like a hassle to rack the slide.

WE ALL SURE DO LIKE PICTURES, AND THIS IS A NICE ONE......AS ARE ALL OF THEM IN THIS VERY INTERESTING THREAD.....
I SHOT BULLSEYE FOR OVER 20 YEARS, MAINTAINING AN AVE IN THE LOW 290s WITH A BUILT RUGER MK II, GOVT. TARGET MODEL. THERE WERE ALWAYS M41s, AND HIGH STANDARDS ON THE LINE, BUT I NEVER GAVE THEM ANYTHING BUT A CURSORY GLANCE. MY FEELING WAS THAT MY RUGER WAS COMPETITIVE WITH EVERY GUN ON THE LINE, AND IT WAS ONLY LIMITED BY MY SHOOTING SKILLS, NOT THE QUALITY OF MY HARDWARE.....
AS A RESULT, I AM THOROUGHLY ENJOYING THE OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW THESE HIGH STANDARD VARIATIONS---ESPECIALLY THOSE CUSTOM BUILT FOR COMPETITION.......
I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT THE SEMI-AUTO AT THE TOP, DOESN'T APPEAR TO SHARE THE SAME GRIP ANGLE AS THE 2 IN THE MIDDLE ROW. I ASSUME THAT IT IS A VICTOR---OR SOME OTHER UPPER ECHELON MODEL, DESIGNED FOR COMPETITION, WHEREAS THE OTHER 2 ARE FIXED SIGHT, ECONOMY PLINKERS.....
IMHO--- THEY MUST HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FEEL IN THE HAND---SOMEWHAT LIKE A LUGER VS. A 1911........

I saw what I believe was a Sport King in a pawn shop earlier this week. I think they wanted $450 for it. I have only had one High Standard and it was a 9-shot snub nose Sentinel model. I say "had" rather than "owned" because when I got a divorce my former father in-law turned out to be an Indian Giver and wanted it back. I guess it came with his daughter like some sort of package deal.

This is a Victor that I have set up for small game shooting and occasional longer range target shooting. I make no claims as a marksman, but the target shown was 20 rounds at 50 yards - over a sandbag rest, of course. I’ve had other .22’s that were pretty good but I have seen none that shoot better than this one or the iron sighted gun I’ve shown at #12 above. These guns make even a shooter like me look like I know what I’m doing.

THAT'S NICE SHOOTING......
A GREAT OPTIC ON A FINE FIREARM WILL ALLOW AN ORDINARY SHOOTER TO LOOK LIKE A CHAMP ! ! !
SOMEHOW I DON'T BELIEvE THAT THIS WAS JUST LUCK---AND NO, I DON'T WANT TO SHOOT AGAINST YOU FOR A BUCK A POINT.....lol.

Saw another High Standard today in another pawn shop. This one was an Olympic model .22 short. Looked like it had a Cutts Compensator on it. They wanted $950

IMHO---THIS PARTICULAR HS MODEL, SO CONFIGURED, IN THE HANDS OF A SKILLED SHOOTER, IS ANALOGOUS TO A SCALPEL IN THE HANDS OF A TOP NOTCH SURGEON. ITS AN EXPERT'S TOOL.....
I CAN RECALL READING SOMETIME IN THE PAST, THAT HIGH STANDARD ACTUALLY WON TWO OLYMPIC COMPETITIONS. BECAUSE HS WAS NEVER MY BRAND IN BULLSEYE, I ONLY GAVE THE ARTICLE A CURSORY SCAN, AND THE PARTICULARS ESCAPE ME......
AFTER READING THIS THREAD, IF I COULD PROVE TO MYSELF THROUGH RESEARCH THAT THIS WAS THE VERY MODEL USED TO WIN THE OLYMPICS, I WOULD RETURN TO THE PAWN SHOP AND ATTEMPT TO NEGOTIATE A PRICE MORE IN MY COMFORT ZONE. THUS, AT THIS LATE DATE, I WOULD BECOME A HIGH STANDARD OWNER......
I WOULD IMAGINE THAT MUZZLE RISE ON A CUTTS COMPENSATED, HEAVY BARRELED PISTOL, SHOOTING .22 SHORTS, WOULD BE NEGLIGIBLE......

High standard pistols won gold in Olympics Rapid Fire at the 1952 and 1960 Olympics. High Standard Supermatic Target Pistol.
I’ll look around a bit more to see if I can discover exactly which model was used. I suspect it was the “space gun” discussed above. $950 is really a fairly reasonable price for one of those.

BINGO---THANKS Wyo ! ! ! SOMEHOW, I SEEM TO HAVE A FOGGY RECOLLECTION THAT ONE OF THOSE EVENTS MIGHT HAVE BEEN IN MEXICO......
I DO NOT DISPUTE THAT $950. MAY VERY WELL BE A REASONABLE PRICE FOR THAT PISTOL. I HAVEN'T COMPETED IN BULLSEYE FOR MANY YEARS, SO ITS NOT LIKE I WOULD PUT THIS PISTOL TO GOOD USE, FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE, AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME. IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT FOR ME TO "JUSTIFY" SUCH A PURCHASE, UNLESS IT WAS A DEAL, THAT I COULD NOT WALK AWAY FROM.....
BACK IN THE DAY, I MAINTAINED AN AVERAGE IN THE 290s WITH A TUNED RUGER, GOVT. TARGET MODEL. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF TRIGGER TIME THAT I COULD FIT IN, BETWEEN WORKING 3 JOBS, AND RAISING 2 KIDS, I WAS A HAPPY CAMPER, WITH THAT LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE. SHOOTING A HS MODEL THAT WON THE OLYMPICS, WAS NOT GOING TO TURN ME INTO AN OLYMPIC LEVEL SHOOTER.....
A FRIEND OF MINE WHO PLAYS GOLF, HAS A CUSTOM FITTED SET OF CLUBS THAT COST HIM OVER $2,000. MUTUAL FRIENDS THAT ALSO PLAY, TELL ME THAT HE STINKS ! ! ! THAT WOULD BE ME, SHOOTING AN OLYMPIC LEVEL PISTOL.....lol.
