The two big ones I've seen coming out at shotshow this year are the Colt King Cobra, and the Kimber K6s DaSa. While neither are really "new" I think they add something to their current lineup's to be considered new. So which do you guys look forward to the most? The Kimber comes in at 25 ouces for the 3", and the Colt at 28. Kimber comes with wood grips and user adjustable sights from the factory. Colt comes with standard rubber and a sight channel rear. The Kimber has that short extractor rod on it though. But the Kimber also has a $100+ extra on the MSRP, and I imagine both will be selling for around their MSRP for a while. What do you think?

Colt is offering a 6-shot, 3” barrel with a channel instead of an adjustable sight, making for a potentially excellent carry option. The prices on these Colts though, for the “meh” level of quality I’m seeing, are just absolutely obscene. I wouldn’t have any interest in a Kimber though... anything they make, Smith has already perfected, IMO, and with better pricing, support, and customer service.

I'm stuck on the older ones......... :o :D

I consider myself lucky in the respect that I was acquiring the major part of my collection when they were currently being made. I could "see" that there was "change in the wind" and stepped up my new store purchases as best I could at that time. Other than a few items out of my reach back then, I was successful in getting what I wanted in the versions I wanted. A few I had to pay more for when I could afford them later on in the game.

Because of this I am spoiled with the vintage stuff and while I do not look down upon anyone for buying new products, they just have no appeal to me personally. I just like what I like. :o :o

I really miss the days when I wanted a certain Revolver and the Clerk in the LGS would bring out 2 or 3 of the same one for me to select from. I also kick myself in the Butt for not buying more stuff back them that would have been worth quite a bit these days. :o

I picked up the Kimber K-6 some time ago , and that thing has been flawless it carries nice , the finish is perfect . that guy Kimber brought on to come up with a wheel gun did a fine job.Now there 1911 guns are hit and miss .Most of the Kimber 1911s I owned I had to send back for something .

Posted this on another thread:

I played with the new 3” Colt yesterday at SHOT. I wasn’t impressed with the looks or finish; it looked and felt cheap. The edges were sharp and not radiused or smooth like older colts - It reminded me of a Charter Arms Bulldog. They had 2 examples at the range, but 1 of them took a dump a couple hours into the morning. I only fired 18 magnum rounds at a metal target so Iam not sure how accurate it was at 15 yards, but it seemed to be hitting low - could have been me. However, I will say the DA trigger was light and buttery smooth. The new King Cobra, in no way, looks or feels like it’s predecessor. As with the new Cobra they released a couple years ago, it’s only likeness is the name and the fact it’s a 6-shot revolver.

I’ve shot the K6 several times now at SHOT because I really want to like it, it seems well made, but in addition to being butt-ugly in my eyes, it’s square backstrap makes it uncomfortable for me to shoot, especially with magnums.

Not much for the magnum revolver guys. For me it’s been Colt, Ruger and S&W for mainly revolvers I been dabbling in older H&R for 22cal revolvers I think they hold the record for the numbers of different 22cal revolvers. I wonder what the future holds for revolvers.

I pray the plastic pistols hit their crest sales wise and we get back to basics with when guns.

FWIW, I stopped by the Colt booth today. Had to search for it because it wasn’t in its usual location and it was waaaaay smaller.

When the Dirty Harry m29 was on the black market after the movie demanded the craze. I wrote ruger and colt letters about offering a colt Python super sized in 44 mag. As for ruger I suggested a security six on steroids in 44 mag. Colt said they had no intention of offering a 44 mag in there revolvers. Ruger said they intend to offer a DA revolver in 44 mag.
I’m enjoying my RedHawks. After reading colts response I will leave colt behind when it comes to choices with me. Where talking decades of hating colt with me. Companies refuse to listen to there customers. How else do you follow the changing trends? Colt had government contracts back then.

I echo this sentiment. I'm very impressed with my K6s.

Yes it looks a little funny if you are used to the profile of a classic Smith. It's well made though and a shooter! Good trigger, good sights and slim for a six shooter.

I've never owned a Kimber anything before but I give them credit on the K6. It's an excellent revolver.

Didn't Colt make these? :)

And the new Cobra that looks like a Charter Arms not a real Cobra. :D

And the K6 is damn ugly, imo, especially the 3 inch one. Maybe an IL can dress it up somewhat? ;)

I hope no one buys the new King Cobra so I can pick one up relatively easily. Honestly I don't own any old Colt DA revolvers and I don't have any intentions of getting any. They have priced themselves beyond what I want to pay.

I'd have to say everything new looks cheap and feels cheap compared to what it used to. Take any new S&W classic revolver for instance.
