In my search for a small pocket carry gun, I have read a lot about the Ruger LCP 2. Do any of you have any practical experience with this gun? Looking for feedback, good or bad. Thanks.

I have the LCP, but not the LCP 2. I've had this little gun since right after they came out and have really liked it a lot. Never had any problems with it.

Not having owned an LCP 2, I can't give you personal experience, but from everything I've heard, they're even better than the original LCP. If that's the case, you can't go wrong in my opinion.

Take a look at the Remington RM380. One of the few metal .380s on the market, flawless double action, based on the Rorbaugh design, with a few improvements (magazine release and slide lock/release).

I have mine about a year, totally flawless operation, feels like a real gun in your hand and very pocketable, if that is your preference for carry.

My LCP2 is a definite improvement over the LCP. Have probably only 200 rounds thru it but they all went bang. Only carry it in the summer with shorts & Tee.

I own both and the original has been perfectly reliable but the LCP2 has been hit & miss. Failures to chamber & extract, but after polishing the feed ramp, as well as other internals, it’s somewhat improved. I’m still testing it but so far I don’t trust it. Whatever you decide, test it w/at least 100 rounds of FMJ and another 100 of your self defense ammo before carrying it. Also, if you’re a leftie be careful of the magazine popping out in a pocket holster.

I have an LCP II. It has been completely reliable and surprisingly accurate. My Shield got sold shortly after the little Ruger moved in. Perfect fit in my Wranglers back pocket.

I have owned an LCP, a Kel Tech, S&W, Sig P238, RM380, and a Kahr. Bought the LCP II when they first came out and have not looked back. I don't count rounds, but I fire 3 mags full every time I go to the range. (Once a week). This gun had never failed to feed, fire, extract, or eject with my home loads or any factory SD ammo. It is not a target gun or a gun that is "fun" to shoot lots of ammo thru. It is intended to be a short range defense gun, and is very good at that.

It costs twice as much as the Ruger LCP, but if I were to get a 380; it would probably be the compact Browning 1911 380.

I bought the EC9s for only a couple hundred $$$ and it hasn't had one blip since I've owned it. But, it has a safety, which many people don't like. I keep the pinky extenders on my mags, as it's a lot easier to shoot. Still fits in my pocket. Never tried the LCPs yet, but I had a Glock 42 and I like this gun much better. Most of my other pistols are 9mm, so I just kept it simple.

I had the LCP for several years and was impressed by the accuracy, and reliability as well as the size. When I handled an LCP2 at a gun show I immediately obtained an LCP2. The minute differences in size, and finish, along with the improved trigger made it a winner. I now have over 200-300 rounds through it with no problems of any kind and I am still as impressed as I was when I first picked it up.

Haven't fired mine now in a couple of months, so the three or 4 improvements of the II over the 1st LCP may escape me, but they're SUBSTANTIAL. After jacking a round in the chamber, the hammer is visually cocked back, which makes for a much shorter/easier trigger pull. I seem to recall the slide locks back after the last round, which the LCP doesn't. Grip is slightly wider. Sights are more pronounced for better visual picture. Something else, but I can't recall what.
II is much improved over the original.

The LCP II is my daily carry, 600 rounds so far without a FTF... It eats anything I feed it without a hiccup. I keep it clean and lubed and trust it without hesitation.

For me, it's the perfect pocket carry pistol.

Thanks. This is great feedback everyone. I appreciate any more information if anyone has it. Thanks again.

That's the LCP Mk1.5 or IB if you prefer. The LCP II has a totally concealed hammer IIRC.

I have a Ruger LC9s, with a safety and its a great gun. I have fired about 500 rounds out of it without any problems. Its not a pocket gun but its my winter carry gun. Carry it in a DeSantis holster, very comfortable. Its not a pocket gun though.

Despite not being a fan of pocket carry, I have an LCP (I just don't feel comfortable sitting across a room or a table knowing that the muzzle is pointed in the direction of other people). It works just fine, but, I don't have as much confidence in the gun because it has a hammer shrouded by the frame. Everything I carry in my pockets ends up with lint embedded in it - the pocket knife sometimes gets lint in it, the iPhone has lint that goes up into where the charging cord plugs in and I have to clean it out with a toothpick and canned air. My concern is getting lint in the area of the hammer and not being able to pull the trigger when I need to. This isn't something that will happen at a range - my concern is it will be something that will happen at the worst moment.

That being said, it is small, it is reliable, and it shoots just fine.

I carry the LCP2 have about 500 rounds through it so far been very reliable and surprisingly accurate for such a small gun. I can pocket carry it all day and not even notice its there.

I carry an LCP2 in a Mika pocket holster when dress dictates and a Mitch Rosen belt holster when I can cover it. It always goes to the range with me and has been 100% reliable with all ammo. I do carry a Shield when possible just because I prefer the 9mm but I feel well armed with the little Ruger. I should add that I use the 7 round extended magazine which lets me get a good grip on the little pocket gun.

tan cerakote for me

I carry an LCP Gen 2 in flat dark earth with the tan cerakote slide. I have shot at least 200 rounds of mixed ball and HP without an issue. I can keep all 6 shots on a dinner plate at 21 feet and when using a Remora Pocket holster it disappears. I trust it. The Remora holster and the small size makes it look like a I have a cell phone or wallet in my front pocket.

I also like the fact the hammer is half cocked and needs to have the trigger pulled to make the hammer full cock and go forward with enough force to fire a round.

I prefer to carry guns with a visible hammer. I have carried a 60, 37, and a Ruger LCRX but it was this little LCP that changed everything. It is so light and easy to carry year round I never leave home without it. The revolvers while small don't have the right shape to be confused for a wallet or phone.

I can wear the LCP in a front pocket in anything - jeans, cargo pants, shorts, dockers and even a suit - and not have it dragging down the pants like a larger gun would. At times I wish I had the body of a younger man without the side handles to IWB a larger gun but I stay away from bad areas of town, keep my wits about me, have my head on a swivel when at the gas station or the market or walking to my car. Now that it's cold no one notices an old man walking with his hands in his pockets - with a grip on the LCP.

My vote is get it - you will love it. I don't mind shooting this over a J frame to be honest - it is snappy but manageable.

That's my .02 for what it's worth.
