Default ROSSI CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT

I'm not going to spew a bunch of Rossi hate about how they are cheap and dangerous, because I'll have multitudes of fanboys come out of the wood work to defend their cheap guns that "never gave [them] no problems"... so I won't.

HOWEVER, I want to get this out there in case y'all haven't received anything in the mail, because I don't want any of my brothers thinking their Rossi revolvers are suitable for self defense, or even safe.

I received this letter today. It was referring to a revolver that I bought and sent back to the factory twice for repairs before selling it. Appearantly they ARE NOT DROP SAFE. Be careful friends.

They're technically not. Taurus has purchased the brand and have assumed manufacturing for the past few years

Does Taurus have a similar caveat about their own brand?

Do they still make the Rossi copy of the Winchester M-92?

This isn't news. It's been out there for many months... the recall started last year. If anything, the OP is the last to know.

Yes, though the selection has diminished these last few years. 20" 38/357 and 44 in blue and stainless is all they show in the 2019 catalog. The have not shown handguns in it for a couple of years.

Did Rossi make the Army's new pistol? It's not drop safe either...

Obviously you don't understand law. While the lawsuit was filed last year a settlement deal was reached April of 2019 (this month). I'm sure you read all about the settlement that didn't exist last year though... good job.

I just received this letter in the mail yesterday, and the only reason Rossi sent it to me was because I had sent a revolver in after having it break on me twice. If you bought a Rossi second hand, you certainly would not have recieved this letter.

Your post sure is negative. All I'm trying to do is make sure other people are being safe out there, and getting any money they may deserve. Good luck little guy.

I had an Interarms Rossi 44spl. that had one of the smoothest, slickest actions I've ever handled but was a total piece of **** when being shot? Timing was perfect until it was under a load, practically gave it away just to get out of my house. lol

The only Rossi firearms I will consider are the Interarms era imports from the 1990's.

Unlike the post above, my M720 44 SPL not only has a great action but is accurate too. One of my favorite carry guns.

I made some basic repairs to one for a person trying to take a CCW class with it. It would only get 1 or possibly 2 rounds to fire from every cylinder full. He was admonished to get rid if it as it couldn't save his life if needed. He brought it to me to see what if anything could be done. I initially told hem to get rid of it and replace with a S&W. But I did look at it and the problem was both the breach end of the barrel and the cylinder face were out of square. When you went to fire it cylinder face would bind up on the barrel. A file and some stones got it to be able to reliably fire a full 50 round box, but I still advised him to get nearly anything else for protection. (The individual was one of 6 on the local police and fire commission).

Not being one who follows Rossi, I did not know about this. It won't alter my buying, but at least I'll know to mention it if anyone brings one to my attention.

Thanks for posting this.

I picked up a used Rossi for next to nothing at a pawn shop several years ago (prior to hopping aboard the Smith train) and it appears to be included in this recall. Never experienced problems with it but never really shot it much or carried it either. Guess I’ll send it in and see what happens.

To the OP - thanks for posting this since as a second hand owner I wasn’t contacted directly and so was unaware (I guess you weren’t the last person to know about it after all lol).

I've got two.
An old 357 model 971 from the 80's or 90's and a 44 mag made by Taurus (basically a Tracker with the Rossi name on it).
I'm not worried about either of them.

The Rossi Model 720 .44 SPC is a top fightsman’s revolver. From what I recall it’s a metal frame K-frame size gun, 5 shots, 3” pipe. It’s the best format for a pistol packin’ .44 SPC yet.
