450 Bushmaster?
Anyone have any experience with the 450 Bushmaster? I keep wondering how an AR configured as a longer barreled pistol with brace would be. I've never shot one though and don't know how reasonable it would be. Perhaps some other cartridge excels in that category and is a better option for a thumper. I know I can't imagine 45-70 recoil out of a pistol AR if that close to what we'd be talking about.

I have a Ruger American in .450. Recoil is similar to a 12g sabot slug, which makes sense since the ballistics are pretty much the same.
An AR gas system will soak up a little of that, but I wouldn't want to shoot one with just a flimsy brace against my cheek and shoulder. I've looked into a 12.5" pistol w/ brace but it's not really worth it. Kicks too hard and ammo is too expensive for a gravel pit toy.

Brother in law built a 450 bushmaster in a carbine, recoil was quite tolerable. Try it and give some feedback.

450 bushmaster
I bought an ATI rifle in this caliber a couple of months ago, going to use for deer here. It is a carbine with 16" barrel, recoil is very tolerable & I'm looking forward to deer season. I have only put 20 rounds through it but am looking to deer season.

I have an AR-Stoner upper (by Midway) it is a thumper for sure. ABout the same as a 20 Gauge slug. I wouldn't want to shoot it in a pistol. It prefers Hornady ammo but will run Remington when I have my can on the carbine. I shot a nice buck in OH with it last year. The cartridge uses .452 bullets vs .458 for the SOCOM.
