Default Always a flyer

Title says it all

Well not always but more often than I’d like. Most shooting is 25 meters offhand

And the gun does not matter

Colt GM

Sometimes the flyer is the only one hitting the ten

I totally agree. It's one of those unexplained phenomena. Even if the gun is rested there's going to be that one pesky booger that messes up your pretty group!
Nice way of showing off your guns too.

Here's a group I shot the other day and totally amazed myself with. But there's always one....

Over confidence, lapse in concentration.

I put 5 in a cloverleaf.. one goes haywire 'cause I figured they all should bullseye.

Several years ago I was shooting my Beretta 92FS at the range. 5 rounds, 25 yards, SA, rested on the bench. 4 rounds went into a single clover leaf hole, the 5th round about an inch out. Never was able to repeat that. *sigh*

With semi-autos I've heard it explained that the manually-cycled 1st shot will typically be a flyer while the self-cycled shots will group together due to the slightly different slide dynamics. Doesn't explain the issue with revolvers, though.

Try shooting three shot groups. Number the chambers (on the revolvers) to see if the flyer comes from one particular chamber.

Be happy you have a group at all. Lately, my groups look more like 100 yard buckshot patterns from a open choke 20" barrel shotgun.

Last resort:

Sell the guns and take up stamp collecting.

Given that the only thing in common with this is the person pulling the trigger, well.......

Hmm. I'm not sure I can group that well standing with a two-handed hold at 25 m.

Were you standing behind me at the range yesterday? Here's my target from my Shield 45, 15 yards, two handed unsupported. Forty shots, nine bullseyes and some near bullseyes , then another grouping of nine, way down at the lower left . That's me, Mr. Consistency!
