20 gauge over 222 with a very nice Kahles scope (not pictured). Swarvosky now imports these scopes. I think it's a mid-60's vintage so assume the gun is from that period too.

Interesting piece, and a fairly typical “all-in-one” gun like German hunters prefer them.

Frankonia has never been a manufacturer, but is a national retailer with several stores in major German cities and a large volume of catalog, now online, sales, for guns and hunting/shooting-related equipment. The guns sold under their name were usually manufactured by somebody else.

A friend of mine has one of those, but his is 12 ga over .222 magnum, an out of production caliber.
He loves it for hunting turkey. He shot one through the head at 100 yards with the .222 mag and wouldn't admit to his fellow hunters that there was some luck in that. A few years ago, he was afraid the gun would become unusable for lack of ammo until Hornady had a limited run of brass and I found some used .222 magnum dies. I loaded him a hundred and he says with that, he's set for life.

Have your friend dismount the barrels and look underneath, I'll bet there might be a month/year stamped somewhere.
