It's the one on the left in the photo below. I haven't shot a .22 magnum in years, for some reason, so I took it to the range today. I'd forgotten what a hot little rocket it is. I have and like a .17 HMR, and have never even seen a .17 WSM (acronyms gone wild). I think sometime the older .22 WMR gets a little forgotten, but if I could only have one of the hotter rimfires, it would be the one.

Fine looking guns there! Sure wish I would have grabbed a 9422M back in the day. That model and the Marlin 1894 in 22 magnum are very sought after today. Both my rimfires are in 22 magnum and agree it is a great round for varmints at reasonable ranges. Love the CCI 40 grain fodder.

Enjoy the levergun.
My son was buddies with one of Conners kids and had fun with a drag boat on Castaic Lake until they were banned.

Lucked out and found 3 Winchesters recently and the 9422 is for our first Grandkid’s varmint tool kit. :D
Headed to the Rockies.
We hunt with fishing rods in South Florida so I made him this Cuban YoYo and wooden magical fish hook...... just pipe Yankee Doodle and serve dinner.
Enjoy.

Here's my Winchester 9422M with a Leupold 4x scope. One of my very favorite rifles. As I've said before, the .22 magnum in a pistol is really nothing more than a souped-up .22 LR...but when shot out of a rifle, it's a whole new breed of cat. I love shooting the .22 magnum. It will handle coyotes out to 150 yards with ease.

I have a 9422M, an early production model I bought about 15 years ago, "used", as new, unfired, with hang tags and manual, but no box for $500 if I remember right. Don't know if I overpaid back then, but it would take twice that for me to even consider selling it now.

What a nice rifle. At the time, Winchester was all about shaking off the bad reputation they had about the post 1964 guns, and the 9422's showed it.

I use mine every year for fall turkey, and the occasional woodchuck when strolling around some of the local farm fields. It wears a 4x Leupold.

It's no secret that I love the .22 WMR - it packs a lot more punch than the .22 LR. I have one of those Winchester Model 9422 magnums - a plain Jane model, and quite accurate. Although these can be scoped, I never did that - the lines of the gun just scream "19th Century"! This is a great field gun, easy to carry. The 9422s were really finely made firearms, some of the best ever to come out of New Haven.

I once had one.Guess what????Please, don't say it...I know.Did the stupid move and what's worse,it is only one of all the good ones I've let get out of my grasp.
Thanks for reminding me how stupid I was(hope I ain't no more but please don't ask my wife!).

I really like 22mag. I have a lever and a pump Winchester in that caliber. I the pic the 9422M is the top gun I’ve had for years; the bottom is a 9422 XTR in 22lr that I recently traded for.

I used to have the Winchester lever action .22 Magnum with the curved grip buttstock for a while, and could not for the life of me figure out why they were dimb enough to usr a magazine tube that was too short for the barrel. Ruins the looks of the gun, and indicates whichever engineer or marketing idiot approved the short tube was likely clueless about Winchester history and tradition.

I have one with a HORRIBLE trigger. As it is being pulled, the hammer can be seen moving rearward before let-off. I need to climb inside of it and see if the engagement can be changed. If so, I'm sure re-hardening will be in order...

I don't know if they were dumb or dim(b), but they were smart enough to use the same length for both to save some money for the customer.

As far as history goes, ever see a model 64?

Speaking of Winchester history and tradition, take a look at this Winchester Model 64 - vintage of 1936. In my opinion, one of the most handsome lever actions ever to leave New Haven. I'm proud to own it.

I love the 9422M

The very first gun that I bought with my own money as a teenager was a new 9422M. Waaaay back when. I have two in .22 mag and two in .22 SLR. I prefer with out checkering but that is just me. JA

That is some beautiful wood on both of your 9422s.
