"New" German SigArms P220 7 Rd magazine
Saw an old auction from a few years ago where a “New German SigArms P220 7 Rd .45 ACP Sig Sauer Mag” sold for $160! Are those really the prices these things are catching now?

Just a lucky bidder in a poorly attended auction. They are nice guns, but I have an early West German model which is an excellent gun and better than the later German marked model, IMO. $500+ gun, depending on condition.

The 7 round mags for the P220 have soared in price. They are not made anymore, and it’s a shame as they are far more reliable than the newer 8 round magazines out now. That’s why they’re so coveted by SIG guys.

Wow, I'd better take good care for the four I have now if they go for that kind of money.

I have three 220's in 45, and 9 or 10 of those mags and 8 aftermarket from around 20 years ago. I ought to round them up!

From the packaging, which says “Made in Germany”, it is a new mag from the time before Mec-gar in Italy became the OEM supplier of “factory” magazines for SigSauer (also for Walther and a few others). These are prized by Sig aficionados, which should at least partly explain the high price.

I have several of the late production, stainless 7-round P220 magazines, considered to be the most refined and desirable P220 magazine ever made.
No, they are not for sale.
The new 8 round magazines are nowhere near as sure feeding as these and I would not rely on them for serious social work. I use mine as range mags only.

I have a Sig 220 with around six or seven extra (new in their plastic wrapping) magazines. Got it after testing it when in the NYPD Firearms & Tactics Section. It's a long story. Sig didn't want the test guns back, and this is the one I purchased (at a good price...). Was around 1989.
I had no idea the magazines were so pricey.

I got 2 from a local pawn shop I visited Saturday. They had 3 of the MecGar ones left, perfect shape, for $15.00 each.

The 8 round mags work fine. I have 4-5 and never had a problem or failure to feed.
I also have 5-6 of the 7 round mags, all stainless steel Made in Italy except one blued mag with the Sauer & Sons logo on it. They all work fine too.
The biggest difference (besides the extra round) is the 8 round mags have a slightly extended floor plate while the 7 rounders are flush steel. Kinda like the difference between a 4506 and a 645 floor plate.
