I thought I would post a pic of my Dan Wesson 738P, probably one of the more rare Dan Wesson revolvers. Apparently, the plan was to build a .38+P revolver on a J-frame scale with removable barrels. I believe approximately 2,000 were made and, as far as I know, they never got around to making additional barrels beside the 2" that came with the gun. I rarely shoot this but it handles quite well.

Yes, it doesn't seem to have been fired much, but when I got it the action was sluggish. I took it apart & it was full of lint & quite dirty. I cleaned it up, polished the moving parts where they made contact with other parts with a Qtip & Mother's Metal Polish and it's now much better. I bought it off of Texasguntrader along w/ a Ruger 3" GP100 Canadian, half-lug, for $800 for the pair, so I was quite pleased with the end result.

Yep, I bought a barrel wrench from Eric at EWK, even though I don't have another barrel. I thought it would be nice for cleaning purposes. He only had one or two left when I bought this one.

It's nice for setting the B/C gap a little tighter than factory too. I try to keep my at .003-.004 and even tighter for the super mags. I have 3 of Eric's barrel nut wrenches.
I was wondering if anyone had set these up with a tighter gap that the .06 gap you get with the factory gap tool.

I just picked up a Dan Wesson model 22 yesterday in Austin and ordered a 22 wrench & toolset (and a 4" barrel from the CZ-USA store). Do you know the recommended gap on the 22's?

You did very well on that deal. Two uncommon revolvers for a great price. Lil Dan looks like new
Hey, good to see you on the Smith & Wesson forum. The Dan Wesson forum is an extremely frustrating forum because the activity level is so low. There is a ton of knowledge there if you can ever get them to answer a question.

I can’t bring myself to join the Dan Wesson forum. I don’t like the format and I can’t ever seem to find out the information I’m looking for

They've actually helped me quite a bit, especially since the first Dan I bought had a locked barrel nut. I'm not sure I would have ever loosened it had it not been for their help.

That being said, sometimes they don't respond to a question or post at all. It's not a very active community.

Yeah and that surprises me. The way super mags fly off of gun broker for ridiculous prices you'd think more info would be out there.
