Default Help with a question concerning a Vintage JC Higgins / Weaver .22 cal. 3/4" vintage

I recently bought this old scope to put on to my Marlin 80DL and I have been trying to sight it in, but i have a question about how to adjust it. There are knurled knobs below the adjustment ring and i am wondering if they are meant to be loosened before I move the ring. I was thinking it might be some type of "tightening ring" I would greatly appreciate any help/knowledge someone can share. as you can see from the photos. the knurled nut looks like it is supposed to be turned, but I don't want to screw up the sight by forcing it when it isn't meant for adjustments. Thanks

That is the earliest weaver scope I have seen, I have a B4 from 1959 that I got new. I would just use a coin and try to adjust if it does not seem to move just loosen the knurled caps a little and try again, but O would not loosen the two screws by the knurled caps. My B4 was not 3/4" but some what smaller dia. Good luck Jeff

A few days late, but maybe a little penetrating oil on the adjusters for a day or so. Ballistol, Kroil, etc.?
