Local Auction has some High Standards
Auction is on Sunday, I know nothing about High Standard handguns other than some are highly sought after.
Here are the models listed:
53. High Standard – Model R-106 -22 cal. - 9 shot double
54. High Standard – Flight King – 22 short only – semi auto – Ser. # 436076
57. High Standard – Model W104 - Double 9 – 22 revolver – double action – Ser. #1432688
58. High Standard- Model M-101 Duramatic – 22 caliber semi auto with brown leather holster – Ser. #1151165
What is the most desirable? What might be a "sleeper"?
Anything in particular I should check on them?
I'm hoping this auction is from the same collector that I attended a couple of months ago, all the guns on that auction were well maintained

# 54 especially if it has the Davis adjustable rear sight.

If you had the money , I'd say buy them all . You could ALWAYS sell what you don't want , probably for more than what you would pay for them .

I tend to agree with Paul, but not sure on the adjustable sight option. That said, they did make quite a few and I think I have 2 of them. I have read stories of cracked frames associated with the HS semi pistols. Although, I have never seen one and I have over 30 of them. As with any collectible, condition, condition, condition! Hope this helps. Thanks! Mick

The only one I am personally familiar with is the W-104 Double 9
I have it with serial number 1440978 which was manufactured in 1965. Mine is in almost mint condition other than one of the grips has had a corner chipped off of it.
As near as i have been able to determine, it's probably worth about $250 to $300 retail in good condition. It is fun to shoot, loads 9 rounds and is pretty accurate. Sights are fixed on that one. It is a double action but has about a 20 pound pull on double action. I shoot it almost entirely like a single action gun.
I don't really know anything about the others, but I would not overpay for them as there is not a huge demand for them as far as I can tell. I would not try to buy them for money makers, but if you want a 22 to shoot, then if you get a good deal on it pick it up.
That company is completely out of business and has not built revolvers for years. It is pretty hard to find parts for the W-series guns.
