Rock Island Arms 45 1911A1 FS
My birthday present to myself. $420 new at the LGS. Parkerized, 5" barrel, walnut and rubber grips, adjustable skeletonized trigger, 8 round mag, ambidextrous safety, beavertail grip, commander hammer, windage-adjustable (probable copy of Novak) sights. Trigger is amazingly crisp - it just goes "click" - no creep.
So much extra stuff that costs $$$hundreds more on other brands. Amazing.
Sorry I have no pics ATM. Stripped it down without tools, old-school style to just remember how. RIA ships their products soaked major over-lubed. Cleaning is slow. Ouch - one band-aid and I stopped. Bought a bushing wrench to get it back together without pinching myself. Wrench is shipped, maybe arrives Tuesday.
I want to shoot it, a lot.

That’s good the bushing is that tight, you want that. It should make for an accurate pistol.

Rock Island makes very nice 1911's for the price. I have a 9mm ATI w1911 which is the same as Rock Island which has been excellent.

I bought this M1911-A1-CS back in 2015. It has been a good 1911.

I will. S&W for some unknown reason isn't making a 5"+ optics cut M&P in 10mm. Should be easy. Honestly, easy. So it's either this RIA or a Glock 40 MOS 10mm long slide.
RIA 10mm can also get a .40 S&W fitted, as well as a .357 SIG. Same magazines. Carry as a SIG, target shoot and teach with cheap 40 and woods stomping with heavy 10mm bear loads.

I have the G40 with Venom Vortex and with a .40 barrel. I like it a lot. But I also like 1911s so the RIA 10 also appeals to me.

RIA has many fans over on the "1911 Forum". Can't beat 'em for the price.
Nice buy

A close friend of mine has had an older, full-size Rock Island for years and it is a tack-driver and has been 100% with ball ammo.

I have 2 RIA 1911's one Tactical .45 ACP and the .22 Magnum XT, both a lot of value for the $$.
Only squawk is that I wish the .22 XT was offered with an adjustable rear sight.

I have two STI Spartans built on the ARMSCOR frame and slides and a RIA double stack 9mm. I am impressed with all of them.
Don't forget your rebate: $50 on each pistol
Promotions | Armscor International, Inc
Our local Rural King was advertising the basic 10mm single stack for $399
