I had not been to the range in WAY too long and my best friend asked me if I wanted to try out a new indoor range near his house. I took three handguns with me, my PPSM2 which is definitely going to be a carry piece, a late '40s HiPower that I had replaced the barrel on and one of my recently acquired Model 19's.
I was very impressed with the PPSM2. Here are the first 7 shots through it at 7yd.
And here is two 8rd mags through it at 10yd, shooting as fast as I could get a good sight picture. A bit more than a shot a second.
I replaced the sights on this one with tritium night sights. The front site has a fairly large white dot around the tritium. They worked extremely well.
This was one 13rd mag through the HiPower at 10yd. Unfortunately, even though the new to me used barrel lined up well with the sights I was having extraction issues to the tune of 3 or 4 times per mag. The original barrel had a badly pitted chamber and I suspect that having to work too hard to extract empties has done in the extractor. Fortunately I have two new extras back in my parts bin. So the work on this one continues. I am quite happy with the accuracy though.
The final group is a 19-4 that I picked up on GB for cheap several months ago. Someone did a fair bit of work on it. They turned it into a RB and did a trigger job, including smoothing the trigger down to make it a combat trigger. It also has a target hammer, probably for added mass to ensure good ignition after the trigger job. It worked perfectly, with good strikes on the cartridges in both SA and DA. I put a set of Culina RB to SB conversion grips on it. The pic was my first 6rd at 7yd in DA. Does not get any better than that, at least with me shooting.
