Another Ruger Mark ll
Sitting beside a tapered barrel Mark lll for the same price. LGS friend couldn’t understand why I’d rather have the Mark ll. The deuce triggers are far superior to the triples.... amongst other attributes.
These Mark ll’s are growing on me..... its number three and i’m still looking.

Took my Mk II out this morning and killed some cardboard with it. The tweak I did to the trigger worked fine. I had one failure to feed a Aguila Super Extra shell. Put it back in the magazine and it fed and shot ok. The pistol will shoot as good as I can hold it, which wasn't very good today, but it was still a great time at the range.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

My MK II is the SS tapered barrel variety. I changed the front and rear sights to fiber optic. Shot it yesterday two dead Opossums.

Yea, allot of folks thought that the relocation of the mag release was the best thing that happened to the MK series pistols. So much so that they were willing to drink the kool aid and overlook the jammomatic Loaded Chamber Indicator, inferior trigger and dragging mags from the disconnect on the III. Personally, I never had an issue with the european style mag release on the I/II nor need for the rest of the lawyer features that the III brought on. ( Admittedly, the addition of universal drill and tapping of the receiver was welcomed though.) I've owned dozens of MK series pistols over the years. Pretty much all of them. I's, II's, III's, IV's, 22/45's.......The MK II will always be a favorite. Here is one of my favorites.

All that said, I don't hate the MK III (or IV) . It just takes allot more tweaking to get them to run as sweetly as a MKII. Here is a MK III competition I rescued last year. I basically gutted and rebuilt it with MK II trigger components:

My first thought after shots on target.... this dog will hunt.
For some reason, I’ve favored the bull barrels over tapered.
Being my first tapered, with a six inch barrel ; I’ll not shy away from tapered barrel MK’s again.

I had adjusted the over travel on the trigger a couple of times. The last time was only 1/8th turn of the screw, and I wanted to function test it to make sure it reset properly. It didn't take long to run 10 rounds through it and see that it worked.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

If your asking how to improve a MK I/II trigger,it's very simple. Just swap out the sear for a Volquartsen MK II sear and spring. The trigger will drop to a crisp 2.5# ( and usually slightly lower if you do some polishing while your in there.) . Cost for that is under $25 (and 1/2 that when you find the right sale.) If you have a MK III, you'll want to get rid of the mag disconnect to get it to that same performance level. That requires swapping out the MKIII hammer bushing( and Mag disconnect train )with a MK II bushing at the cost of another $10 or so.
I've worked dozens of MKII/III triggers with the above treatment and results are consistent. If you want even better triggers, you can change the trigger and or hammer as well . The difference isn't as dramatic though. The sear will get you 80% of the way.
MK IV's get a bit more complicated. The four, MK IV's I've messed with all required upwards of $90 worth of parts to get them under $2.5#. Those tend to need an aftermarket sear, disconnector, hammer and sometimes a trigger too. Results are not as cut and dried when tuning a MK IV.

Mark II's
The Mark II is my favorite as well. I've owned many of them in the past, and unfortunately, let them all slip through my fingers.
I do have a few that I'm quite fond of, and have no intentions of ever letting them get away.
My most favorite, favorite of the group is this 50th Anniversary Standard Model with 4 1/2" tapered barrel.

Next up, is my Stainless Target Model with 5 1/2" Heavy Barrel.

And the last of the three, a 22/45 Mark II with 5 1/2" Barrel.

Three keepers, for sure!

Some folks will pay more for a used MKII than they will for a NEW MKIII.
I've not tried a MKIV yet but they're interesting in improved take down.

I don’t understand the dislike of the loaded chamber indicator. I have had a mkiii for years and have never had a problem with mine. Irrigating on the ranch encountering muskrats, skunks etc. I might chamber and unchamber a round 4 or 5 times a day. I really like having the loaded chamber indicator.
