Just won a new, in the box, unfired Astra Cadix .22 revolver from 1963 on GB. The above photo is from the web, but just like the one I bought. Besides being made in Spain and supposedly of very good quality, anyone ever have one or shot one? Or any other insight on them?

Never had an Astra 22, but my father once had a stainless 44 mag Astra. To me, it seemed to be of at least as high quality as my model 29. Likely better.

I had one and a couple or 3 Astra's in 38 and/or 357.

Excellent preforming revolvers for me. Never had a hiccup but ended up trading them or selling them for something I needed more at the time.

Look anything like this Astra Terminator of mine?

His was a 4" square butt and had nice, checkered wood grips. I also remember it having a pinned barrel and recessed chambers in the cylinder.
Pretty much a 629 clone then.
The interesting thing about the Astra 44 mag is that the frame is comparable to an N-frame, but the grip is pretty much exactly K/L-frame in size and shape. At least the round butt on mine is. In the photos above it is wearing a set of K/L-frame Compac Pro grips

I never had an Astra revolver, but many Astra semiauto's
All were top quality IMO.
400, 600, 300, 3000, FireCat, ect.
Sold them all but have a Astra 4000 Falcon in .22LR as a project gun now.

I never had one, but I remember back when they came out with the
Terminator (.44 magnum snub nosed revolver),
I wanted one, but never got it.

The Cadix, like yours, was manufactured by Astra-Unceta in Spain.
They merged with Star, so the name has disappeared.
They were imported into the U.S. by European American Armory.
They were imported all through the 1960s.
The 4" and 6" Cadix has adjustable rear sight.
Came in .22 short, long, long rifle, and .38 Spl.
Swing out cylinder with 9 chambers for .22
