Default Colt's "1911 Classic" O1911C

Not really happy with the Remington Commander-length 1911 I bought on a whim a few years ago, I've wanted a Gov't. Model for awhile and saw that Colt came up with what they call their 1911 Classic (SKU O1911C: Colt's Manufacturing LLC ) last year and I began looking for one. Had to drive to the other side of Detroit to find one, but I finally did. Basically a Series 70 with a NM barrel and an old roll mark (actually laser engraved on these) scheme, it's a nice basic retro-style 1911. They come with a short trigger, a plastic flat mainspring housing and red-dyed plywood grips, both of the latter which had to go. I also put a nice short wide spur hammer in the gun for more retro goodness. Streeting at around ~$700, these are probably the easiest way to get into a decent Colt 1911 right now.

Very nice. If I were going to get another 1911, that one would probably be at the top of my list.

Very nice, but I like the original double diamonds on it better, fwiw. Real stag or real ivory would look good though.

It's an old part I had on hand, not something from a current retailer. I believe they can be found from some suppliers, though.

I kept these, among others, when I sold the Remington. The Colt can be dressed up nicely, rest assured.

That’s nice! Happy to see you put the PROPER arched MS housing on your A1 pistol. Congrats on your new .45.
