This was a birthday present to myself. Simply WOW! This is a fine pistol. Comparing this to Colt‘s is like comparing Cartier to JC Penny. Not that Colt is that bad, but this revolver is in a league of its own. The fit and finish is perfect. Seems cannot be felt. The screw slots are clocked to the same position, frame is highly polished under the the rich case coloring, and the grips are nicely figured Turkish walnut. I wasn't sure what exactly to expect, but this exceeds my expectation established by Colt SAA’s. Im more than pleased and can’t wait to shoot it. My poorly lit iPhone pics are an injustice, and for that I apologize. When I get my light box set up Ill try again.

Hey Norseman, I originally bought a Colt P1840 brand new production in April. After some consideration I posted it for sale here and sold it to fellow forum member. I was stuck between having an original Colt and Standard Manufacturing as well as 4.75” vs 5.5”. Also, I missed the boat on USFA guns years back, and didnt want to risk making that mistake again. That being said I think Standard has much more staying power than USFA did. Nonetheless, Im quite happy now.

Now I have an itch for a nickel 5.5” Standard....

Congratulations. I gave them a call this week. It’s about a 6 week wait and probably well worth it. Enjoy yours.

Congratulations on a Very Fine addition to the Family.

I think I need to go look at those :)

USAF had nothing to do with staying power or profitability. The owner of the Company was Uber Wealthy and wanted to make SAAs . . . So he bought the old Colt Dome and made them. They were wonderful quality and he made them under the old Colt facilty. It is amazing what can be done if you do not care about profit or loss

When that thrill wore of many years later, he stopped making all the SAAs and began making a gun called the ZIP-22

The ZIP-22 was meant to mount on the lower equipment rail of a AR style rifle. The firearm was a Rugger 10-22 style clone. It was awkward to use and it did not go far.

I was kind of surprised the first time I saw this at SHOT. He went from a superbly manufactured revolver to an injection molded monstrosity.

Now, if the ZIP-22 was select fire or full auto it might be interesting

That’s what they told me, and it was done in less than three weeks.

Edit to add:
I forgot to mention earlier they will make the SAA in calibers other than 45 Colt and 38 Special. 44-40 and 44 Special are on the list, just not advertised on their website.
