That's a good looking rifle Erich. I had to put a red dot on my 1894C. My eyes aren't working well with open sights anymore, it seems.

I've always loved lever actions.... grandpa got me into westerns as a kid and I fell in love.... oddly enough I dont have one, may have to remedy that....

I just bought this Rossi 357 about a week ago. It's been to the range twice already. It is a really fun gun. I also have a Browning BL22 and a Winchester 94 30-30. What I love about lever actions is they feed just about everything. I'm working on a noiseless squib load for the Rossi in addition to high power hunting loads. The Browning 22 takes shorts, CB caps, shot shells, etc. I like that.

Neat rack of rifles! Here's a question I hope that one or more of you could answer. Just watched one of the more squared-away U-Boobers who made a Top-5 Rifles for H/D video. Thee levergun he uses is an 1873 pattern Winnie.
I only have experience with the '92, '94, and Marlin actions. What would be some things on the older design that one would prefer it? At a glance, it SURE looked liked there are less screws and pins to futz with if need be.

Those are some very nice lever actions. We have three here.
Marlin .45-70. My favorite centerfire rifle.
Marlin .450.
Henry in .357. I do say that although I get to shoot that one it is entirely Wendy's rifle because it was a gift to her from a forum she is on.
There was a Marlin 39 but that belonged to her dad and has been passed on to his granddaughter, our niece. A fine first rifle when she got old enough and got into shooting plus her brother gets to use it also. Her brother received one of his grand dad's Randall knives that we used to have here, so it worked out great for all.

Here is a few of my keeper class levers. I have others up to 70s in Marlins and 64 in Wins......and one M99 savage of 1950. Win 1895 in 30/06, Marlin 1894 in 32/20, Marlin 1897 in 22rf and Win 53 in 25/20. These rifle shoot so good it’s not fair to game to use them.

I also like lever guns. Unfortunately neither of my rifle racks can hold all of the, for a single photo. None of my lever guns are vintage, all are of modern manufacture
I prefer the straight stock on mine
This engraved 20" SRC from Rossi is probably my oldest
As a big fan of 41 Magnum I had to have this
Marlin 1894 CCL
Then Marlin offered up this stainless 41 Magnum
I also have Marlin CCLs in 44 Magnum and 45-70
How can you not love a 22LR Golden Boy from Henry?
This .308 Browning BLR brings some big power
We converted this 45LC Marlin to a take down a couple of years back
In total there are three Rossi long guns plus 3 Rossi Ranch Hands. Then I have half a dozen Marlins plus two Winchesters and two Henrys
One day I may gather them all together for a group photo

A Winchester model 94 short rifle (centennial model), A Winchester model 92 (Miroku) short rifle in .45 Colt, A Browning model 53 (Miroku) in 32-20, A Winchester model 1895 (Miroku) in 30 -06, A Marlin 1895 STP guide gun in 45-70, a Browning BLR model 81 in .308, And a Winchester model 1894 rifle in .32 Winchester special.
The Winchester 1895 in 30-06 is likely my favorite with the model 92 in .45 Colt a close up second.

Nice bunch of rifles! Who doesn't like Lever Actions..
I'm in the process of putting together a Marlin 1893 SRC from assorted parts I've gathered up over the years.
I think I have most everything for it,,maybe short a few screws and pins (just like me).
The 30-30 bbl looks the best, at least on the inside. The gray spray paint on the outside not so good hiding some rust and pits.

I do love lever action rifles. I'm going to owe y'all some photos!
I had a number of Winchester M94s that I "collected" when I heard they were not making them any longer but at some point in time a couple of years ago I decided I'm not collecting them so I sold off 4 or 5. I paid a poker debt with one, an Angle Eject in .44 Magnum.
But I still have my first, a pre-USRAC M 94 in .30-30 that I added a Williams peep sight to and it shoots GREAT.
I also retained my Model 94 Big Bore in .375 Winchester.
What I don't have pictures of are my Navy Arms/Rossi M92 in .45 Colt (octagon barrel, really pretty), my Marlin .45-70 Guide Gun (stainless steel, very cool rifle), and my very old M94 Winchester in .25-35 (someone's re-barrel job from decades ago, as flat shooting as anything I've ever seen). Someday I will get photos!

I've been looking for a lever gun in .357 to carry in the Bronco when I'm out knocking around in the boonies. I was planning to pick up a Rossi M92, but stumbled across a nice Marlin 1894C yesterday, so I grabbed it.
Made in 1979, so pre-safety, and pre- "Remlin", as they seem to be called over on the Marlin forums. My last Marlin was an 1895 in .38-55 made in the early 1900's, but that was almost 30 years ago. Haven't even had time to clean it yet, but already looking for a receiver sight.
I would have preferred a 16" gun, but this should do nicely.

You scored a nice one there. The pre-safety 1894c rifles aren't easy to find and tend to be pricey.

That Marlin good choice. I don’t buy Marlins from cross bolt safety models to present. Nothing wrong with JM Marlins with safety as far as shooting. Don’t buy Remlins or take them on trade. I don’t by clones and replicas either. Back here in Ohio where 357 is legal deer cartridge a pre safety JM Marlin in shape of yours would start- $1k

Here's my Marlin 1894 Cowboy II in .357. It's a great gun to shoot, and very accurate. I too had to put a red dot on it due to aging eyes.

Love them both! For the most part Winny's are finished a little better but I have always preferred Marlin's action. So my solution is to own both!

I stumbled across that at a small town pawn shop of all places. I should have kept it, but when offered tripple of ones purchase price, I got weak.
I have another Marlin 336 in 35 and a 30-30 that I'm going to cut to that size. It sure is handy. But odds are very low that I stumble upon another original one, in either caliber.
I 'bout whizzed my pants when I saw that short barrel Marlin on the rack that day! It's why I keep on looking,..... ya just never know.

I have only one lever action, a Winchester Model 1895. Originally in 30 Govt, the barrel was a pooch when I got it so a new 40 caliber barrel was tapered and installed. The chamber was cut for the 405 WCF. I have two loads for it factory and a lighter load to emulate the 40-72. I keep it sighted in for the lighter load.
Here it is paired up with a 1917.

Had more than I remember. Currently a Henry 22 and an original take down short rifle 1892 in 38-40.

I have always had a weakness for lever actions (too many Western movies?) but have managed so far to hold it to these three (357 Henry Golden Boy, 22LR Henry Frontiersman, Marlin 39A Golden),Nice collections above,

This has been my deer (and one black bear) rifle for just shy of 40 years. It was made in 1901 and I got it from the son of the original owner. During the war (the second one) it needed to be re-barreled for some reason but no replacement barrels were available. However a local store had a used model 64 rifle barrel and forearm so that was installed. Since new it has probably killed more deer than General Motors. To be fair of course it is also older than General Motors. The son told me that as a kid he remembers it keeping meat on the table all through the depression. Not worth anything to a collector but it's got countless small scratches and nicks that I'm sure all have a story. I suppose I should add that it's a 30-30 (30WCF).

I've always really enjoyed them, mostly Winchester's and Savage. It's been fun taking deer with them...in some cases, 100 year old rifles still being used. I enjoy it.
