I've lost every Buck knife I have ever owned.  The last one slide out of my pocket when exiting my truck and fell right into a sewer drain under the vehicle. I took that as a signal I should switch brands - LOL! Descent knife brand - just impossible to hold on to (for me).

My brother recently got a Buck 119 based on recommendations from this very forum, and I've since grown fond of it. I also really like the 120.

Buck 105, had it since the 70's. Original was replaced Under warranty as the handle was defective.
Wife prefers her 118.

I have a couple of Buck 119's(?), ("Buck Special" in my world) one is the first knife that I bought many moons ago.

I have two 119’s. 119 is the entry level knife, sold at Menards and Walmart and virtually everywhere. So used 119’s are often cheap. I have a perfect one ($35 used) and one that was abused (bought for $5, looked like an idiot had tried to sharpen it, I spent hours putting a decent edge back on it). All that said the shorter models would be preferable to me, but the new prices give me sticker shock. I’d have to pay twice as much as my $35 119 to get one. I love the 119’s, but I’d love a smaller knife more.

Don't know if I have a "favorite" or not.
I have a bunch of them and like them all. Skinner, Woodsman, Pathfinder, Special, Fisherman, had Personal that was my dad's, had Buck recondition and sharpen it and gave it to one of my boys. I have plenty of folders and pocket knives from Buck too.
They make a pretty good mass produced knife for the money.

Have read does a great job with 420 H.C. steel. So many different steels it can be mind boggling. My current Sog Trident Tanto is Aus-8 and does take an edge very easily. Still the Buck knives offer a good blade for the money.

Glad to see you back Texas Star ! As for Buck sheath knives, my favorite would have to be the Buck 101 - mainly because I carried a Buck 110 for over thirty years, and always wishing it was available in fixed blade configuration. Well, it is now, and it's great. I normally carry a Esse 3, or if I'm cleaning hogs, a Gerber Para Wrap (thing won't get dull !)

I have had several Buck knives over the years, either by purchase or by winning them as prizes at trap shoots. I have given them all away. While I like the looks, quality and design, I have never been happy with the sharpening of a Buck, both is ease and edge retention. Just my opinion

Buck 121.
Admitting that I have not handled their fixed blades that were introduced in the last few years, the 121, sometimes sold as the Fiserman, stands alone. It was the only fixed blade made from thin stock. That makes a 121 easier to sharpen, makes it the best slicer and makes it lighter. I'm not Rambo. I'm never going to stab my Buck into a crack in a vertical rock cliff then use it for the final step to safety and, of course, mowing down another hoard of bad guys to save the world. I prefer Buck's older full flap sheaths and black phenolic handles. Knives never fall out of those sheaths and the handles can be hand washed with the rest of the dishes. I've seen wives steal their hubby's 121 to use in the kitchen. After ward the hubbys could only borrow them back. I doubt you'll ever see that happen with the thick heavy sharpened pry bars that so many men buy.
Among the older 100 models runner up is the 102 Woodsman.

I like my Circa 1980 Buck 102 U.S.A Knife 7-3/4"L, 4" Blade.
Buck Black Leather Belt Loop Carrying Case.
A friend wanted to see it once, and returned it with a very
dangerous edge. When I use it I am very carefully with it.

I got waylaid by a Buck some years ago. I was helping a friend with her aging father’s collection and he had a very nice 120.
I bought it and came to learn that early Buck knives had inverted stamps, earlier ones with just Buck and later ones with USA added.
Then learned that after they turned the stamp around there was a period of time before they started using date codes. And that lucky collectors could sometimes find George Lawrence sheaths for Buck knives.
Like most worthwhile lessons these were expensive.
So my favorite Buck is this last one I got, a gift from my best friend. His older brother worked for a local sporting goods store and gave this to their dad, a mentor of mine. He put it away in a closet and never used it and now it’s put away here and still not going to be used.

The vanguard 692 is my go to hunting/outdoor knife. It’s totally utilitarian and plain. But more than makes up for it in functionality. The other is a 650 nighthawk that resides in my bug out bag. For the price point you’ll never feel bad about using the daylights out of it.

Current steel is 420HC, with their own heat treat by Paul Bos.
The Custom SHOP OFFERS OTHER STEELS AND A 119 WITH A FLAT GRIND.

My father in law gave me his well used 121 after I married his only daughter. She said the only reason she married me was because I wasn't a deer hunter. Of course he started taking me to his deer camp and the first 20 or so deer I shot were skinned with that knife.
Later a new friend with whom I was hunting saw it and said, 'hey, that's a fishing knife, not a deer skinning knife'. Oh, well.
I do like a 102 also.

I have two 119s, an 80s vintage with standard black phenolic handle, and a custom shop one I ordered a couple of years ago with S30V steel, cherry handle, and nickel silver trim. Oh, and it has a matching 110.

I got a 103 skinner knife for my 13th birthday from my dad. Still have it and it has skinned more deer than I can remember. I got a 110 from my wife for Christmas one year, stupidly put it down after skinning a deer, and did not find it till the spring melt.. Still have both, so which one is my favorite is a toss up.

My Buck 110 rides in a sheath/holster on my belt, when I carried a knife in my pocket it was on a lanyard attached to my belt. I have a Buck 119, was looking for a 120 but I got the 119 cheap !

Buck 120 fan here. Original and custom made sheaths were lost during Katrina.
I did find a dealer who handled replacement sheaths made by Buck so I got one.

Saw this on a table at the Dallas Market Hall Gun Show a few years ago. It was different and I liked it so I made the dealer an offer. He said I wouldn't see many like it. Over the years I haven't.
I was told recently that it was an exclusive offering by one of the big box sporting chains like Bass Pro but he really didn't remember who. I haven't been able to confirm it. Let me know in anyone knows more about it. Thanks

Buck custom shop has the white bone handles, I think. Don't know the cost.
All of my Bucks have basic black phenolic resin handles. I also have one stockman pocketknife really made for Buck by Schrade or Camillus. Has grooved black Delrin scales.
But I like the white ones.

Picture it: Parker Canyon Lake, Arizona, circa 1991. I had a Buck 110 knife, nearly new. I cleaned a fish with it, then, put the knife on a rock temporarily. Later, on the way home, 60 miles away, I suddenly recalled that I left the knife on a rock. By then, it was dark and there was no way we were gonna turn around and look for it. Somebody, no doubt, found it. Lucky him. I later bought another 110. Still have it.
