Looks like I ended up panic buying......
My son called this AM and asked with a sense of urgency. "Are you going to finish the AR-15?" I told him I'd work on it.
I already had two lowers and one lower part kit.
Tonight I ordered:
A lower parts kit with a stock
A stock
Two complete upper assemblies
some mags and other do-dads.
A BUNCH of stuff is already out of stock.
I started this years ago and was hoping I could do it little at a time but I haven't been able to do anything. Now I've had to do it all at once.
It's ok. I like soup, sandwiches, pork and beans etc.

A couple of years back I decided it was time to join the AR club and built 2 Mil-SPEC rifles on stripped lowers. Then I bought a couple of 80% lowers which I milled out on the drill press. That, in case someone decided to "buy back" the serialized lowers.
Now those 2 lowers are on the shelf, screaming at me to make them into something.
It was an interesting project.
It's what got me into powder coating, actually. Gas checked and powder coated bullets work just fine.

I kinda did the same . I wanted a complete lower, but everywhere the complete lowers were out of stock. So I ordered a stripped lower and a build kit. My other Ar I set up for my son's to be able to deer hunt with it; I put the scope so low it is a pain in the butt for an adult to shoot, but works perfectly for them.

I was in a gun store yesterday. It was pretty busy and most of the interest seemed to be in the AR's, AK's and other Evil Black Rifles.
I expect that by Monday afternoon their shelves will be picked clean.

A few years ago I also got the need for a "SHTF" rifle to be on hand. I was never a fan of the AR, but a DPMS flat top was priced right, so it then resided at my house, had to add a 2-7 Vortex scope, a quick release 2 point sling, and a dozen magazines. Picked up 500 rounds of factory ball ammo, then loaded 500 rounds of 50 gr HP's. Both shoot to same POA. Zeroed at 100 yds, it sits in my vault ready if needed. I have only shot it once since I sighted it in.

Buy magazines while they are cheap, plentiful and most importantly, available!

The orders went through, but we all know how things can end up on 'back order'.
I just hope I got in under the wire.

I'll have two for each one. I SUPPOSE we will be able to continue to buy smaller mags. You know. Three rounds max or some such.

I agree with that. Modern sporting rifles and ammunition are useless without magazines.
I loaned my first AR to a friend who liked it so much I sold it to him. I immediately replaced it. I wrote the other day in another thread that when I decided I wasn't shooting an M1A any longer I got over my dislike for ARs quickly and realized that for my purposes they are the go to weapon for when the SHTF or TEOTWAWKI happens. Besides, they're also tons of fun to shoot, basically recoilless, and despite the anti-gunner whining these MSRs are great for various types of hunting as long as you play by the rules in your jurisdiction.
And red dot sights are the bees knees!!!

I hope that you got a good supply of ammo for the guns.
Good luck if you did not.

JUST two!?
Two is one, one is none. Too many is better than not enough!

I ended up panic-buying once. The local pizza parlor was going out of business, so I got scared and bought 18 pepperoni pizzas. Word of advice: don't try to eat 18 pepperoni pizzas by yourself in 3 days.
But all kidding aside, it's good to panic-buy. We are living in "interesting times," to quote Mao -- what a funster he was, if you like wholesale-mass-murder with your fun.
Better to have things and not need them, than to need them and not have them. Keep your ammo cool (heat kills ammo).

Friday at close my LGS had 5 ARs, 2 AKs and 1 AR10.
They all sold yesterday, even the $999 Del-Ton Echo.

It's nice to pick up parts here and, there, assemble at ones free time and put together a good working piece. I put this 16" dissapator together as a spare time project, great outcome...accurate, never fails to fire....only draw back it is loud !!!! Nature of the beast I guess.

Cast and reload, FTW. Powder coat, gas check. A few thousand primers and powder while the getting was good.
Hope not to need any of it.

I bought the lowers and lower assemblies years ago and started putting them together. No hurry. But lack of funds kept me from getting the bigger parts I needed. The first thing my son told me was the election result. The next sentence out of his mouth was "Are you going to finish the AR?"
I don't like the noise. I'm a real downloader. I have a friend with a mini-14 and a bad shoulder. He really likes my products.
Early own I also bought tools I needed, torque wrench, barrel wrench, pin installers. etc. So depending on how all of this goes I hope to be able to do future modifications at a pleasant pace.

I panic bought some 80% lowers, jigs, a selection of uppers and kits a couple years ago. But, then I decided to melt all that aluminum down and make something useful out of it. An Exorcism of all the black evil contained within. I feel better and the world is a safer place.

Scratching my head as to how some of you folks can have unbuilt lowers hanging around for up to 2 years.
Any lower that ends up in my possession gets fully built out ASAP. Additionally, I end up following the unwritten rule that "lowers must equal uppers". I don't know how many times that I bought one or the other, but then realize that the universe will be out of balance if they don't get mated up.

In my case it is called having way to many projects. When I go out on a job I put 15% of the take into gun stuff. That program has gotten me some nice guns and gun stuff.

I bought a bunch of lowers from various makers when they were selling at $40 over the course of 18 months. I have/had a money deficit disorder so I won't be completing the majority anytime soon.

Was at a gun show a couple few years ago.
Anderson lowers were $30 each or 4 for $100.

I’m sure I’m not the only one here who has had this experience:
A local pawn shop had a cardboard box behind the counter full of aluminum government issue 30-round magazines... $5 each.
The box sat unmolested for a few weeks but, eventually dwindled and went away. This was in 2018.
I suspect even old-style GI magazines wouldn’t last ten minutes these days. -and would likely fetch more than $5 each!

We have one of those pawnshops that has/had a giant box of magazines with various prices, none more than $30. I would regularly buy to flip them.
They went to new management and wouldn't negotiate so I don't bother with them.

I can go for a long time without buying anything, no problem. I just shut it off. But once I've decided that I CAN buy something, try stopping me. I get the shivers and shakes like I've got DTs. The guys at the gun shop can see me coming a mile away.
