I was in the cellar playing with my toys and I thought I'd share a couple with yinz. The Shrade-Walden was given to me from Dad, I think 10th or 11th birthday. Sheath could use some attention but the knife is still in great shape; holds a very sharp edge after 50+ years. The Herter's was Dad's. I believe he bought it also in the mid to late 60s. I vaguely remember the ad where they took a hammer and whacked it to cut a nail in half then sliced a tomato with it. (Many tomatoes were sacrificed over the years to demonstrate the tough steel that knives were made of!) That knife is also very sharp and in good, solid condition. This fall weather and the knives just bring back the good memories of small game hunting up at our camp in Northwest PA with dad. I also used to like looking through the Herter's catalog at all the guns and knives, etc. Dad bought my grandfather a .22 revolver for Christmas one year. All I can remember is it was dark with black grips, 9-shot. The good ol' days! Send a check with the order form and get a gun in the mail!
