I once put together a fairly high dollar AR with a good barrel, billet receiver set, Gieselle trigger, and all the fixins. It shoots good.

I put one together for my son. Bought a used stainless barrel, Anderson receiver set, Mil spec Lower and upper parts kit. Probably don't have $400 in it.

His will out shoot mine all day long.

And that's where the Mini 14 got its reputation as inaccurate!

I was at a gun show several weeks ago,, and a couple seemingly knowledgeable 60ish women were in front of me,,

They stopped at a Mini-14 with the wood & stainless folder stock,,
and they were talking as to WHY the gun was priced 3X as compared to the other Mini-14s,,

I spoke up and said "That is the A-Team gun!"
They were old enough the remember the show,, but it just did not click,,
I said,, "You know,, Face, Murdock, BA and Hannibal!"
Then, all of a sudden, one of the women remembered,, She said "TV SHOW!!" I said yes,,

I left them, staring at the gun, and reminiscing,,,

I did not check back, but, they were acting like they were interested in buying it,,,

You are missing nothing but resale value and stigma if they used good quality parts and knew how to assemble one properly and in spec. Other than those makers using **** chinese parts and minimally trained labor assembling it, nearly all of the normal players put out a very usable product. If resale value matters you will get more from a "known quality maker" than you will "Jospeh R. Blows AR's and Quality Jerky of Walla Walla WA" but the jerky probably tastes just the same.

I want to know where I can buy those bullets they shot that made all of those sparks.
