Colt 1911...score.
Total of maybe a dozen guns in stock.
Ammo hit hard just like everywhere else.

That's great. My maternal grandfather served at Meuse-Argonne in World War I.

Wow....I'd say 9 bones for that was a very good score! It's great being in the right place at the right time.

Beautiful...I've got a WWI Commemorative also that I picked up a few years ago because my Father was in WWI. I believe that series was manufactured in 1967 as a 50 year anniversary. Would those have been done in the Colt custom shop?

When I was at Auburn University, 1972-1977, there was a small store in neighboring Opelika, Alabama. It was open from 5 AM to midnight, 7 days a week. Like many stores in the rural South, Story's Grocery also carried some hardware items and a few rifles and shotguns. A clerk that worked there talked the owner into expanding the firearms line, eventually adding handguns, knives, holsters and even reloading supplies. Later, the store had a line of auto parts.
Over the years, I bought a Winchester 9422, a Marlin 1895 and a M27, which became a .44 Special, from them. That doesn't count primers, powder, holsters and other gun stuff.
Where else could you go at 11:30 PM to buy powder, primers, a muffler for your truck and a loaf of bread?
