Another Ruger Added To The Collection
This is the Ruger rifle that I waited 3 hours for the PICS check to clear.
M77 Hawkeye in .223. Beautiful wood. Great trigger.
Traded a HK P30SK for it. I am now plastic pistol free. All my handguns are metal frames.
Minus the delay, it was a good day.

Definitely a rifle worth waiting for!! I had a Ruger M77 Hawkeye Compact in .243. Accurate as all get out!!!...even with factory loads! I let my grandson borrow it five years ago and he took his first coues deer with it at over 200 yards. He called that night and said, "Grandpa, you'll never see that .243 again."
Since then, two years later, he downed this nice mule deer buck with it. Again, a shot around 200 yards. They're definitely great guns. Congrats on your new acquisition.

Chip,
The 2nd photo is one of my favorites on the forum. I remember it from the first time you posted it, you probably never found the buttons that popped right off your shirt.
How about an update on the grandson, surely he has done something else worth bragging about.
Have a blessed day,
Leon

Leon, you're absolutely right. Ms. Judy spent a whole afternoon replacing and stitching all those buttons back on.
Seriously, though, Brig has gotten a deer every season since, but none as big as that big buck. A little fork horn last year, but he was very happy with it. He says he doesn't need to get a monster buck to be happy. This year, however, was the first year he got a deer with his bow. It was a doe, but he made a good stalk on it and a great shot.
He's still not giving up my ol' Hawkeye. I'm pretty sure Quikdraw67 will really like his new acquisition. They're great guns.

My old 700 Remington is a .243, it's fun to shoot. I have a Leupold 4x on it, had it a long time and it's still a good scope. I have a few reloaded shells that need to be shot, don't want them to spoil. :-)
I used to shoot a bow, back in the day. My buddy Johnnie reminded me that I used to stick another arrow in an arrow when we shot. Was probably just luck. Back then I was stronger and had steady hands.
The kid with the big deer has turned into a fine looking young man. Grandpa has a right to be proud.
Thanks for the reply, have a blessed day,
Leon

My Ruger 77 International in .243 has been, and still is, a great gun for Penn's Woods and small fields..... groundhogs and other medium varmints to Whitetail deer.

Nice. I recently bought a Hawkeye in .223 and love it. It is stainless with the full length stock.
BTW where did you get your sling? Been looking for one of those for a long time
