Would anyone in the awesome body of knowledge of this forum happen to know the correct front sight height for a '54 made Model 70 Winchester in .375 H and H? It has the standard 25" barrel and a (newly acquired) 70B rear sight. Or lead me to where I can get this info? I have a copy of Rules "The Rifleman's Rifle" but it is packed away after a recent move.
I replaced an aftermarket 3 leaf sight with a 70B rear sight and believe the front sight is too tall. I would like to get an original and correct height front sight before I remove the scope to zero the irons and and then replace and re zero the scope. Not a rifle I want to experiment with on the bench, due to the cost of ammo, dental filling replacement, orthopedic surgery and physical rehab.......
Any help greatly appreciated,,

Wyo, thank you for the info! That is the outfit I got the 70B rear sight from. I'll get an order in right away.
The only thing i have killed with it has been a decent size Alaskan Caribou. Only animal I have shot where the Antlers hit the ground before the body! (or so it seemed anyway). I would feel comfortable taking an elk with it on a quartering away shot....

Thanks again,

OZ

Oscar Zulu,
Go to pre 64 Winchester.com They have a bunch of parts for pre 64 model 70s. I have bought parts from them for my 1954 model 70. I am sure they can direct you to what you need and they might well have it in stock.
