Our letter carrier has one of the Argentine 1911's. He is looking into whether any of the commercially available rimfire conversion kits will work on the South American guns? I don't have a clue? Are these the one's folks refer to as "Systema's"?
Anyone know?
THANKS!

The Argentine Systema M1927 is a license-produced Colt M1911 and is dimensionally identical and interchangeable with Colt M1911 parts. The conversion unit should work fine.

On the other hand, if the pistol is a Ballister-Molina, the parts are NOT interchangeable with the M1911.

An interesting situation that happened to me. I bought one of the Colt conversion units brand new in the mid 70's. I put it on my 1913 vintage Colt 1911 and it would not work. Fire two or three shots and then jam. I then proceded to put it on a series 70 Colt, and a series 70 Colt Gold Cup. Both worked fine.
Don't know what it was, but it never did work on my 1911.

I had a J A Ciener on my Systema 1927 and it functioned just fine. Only so-so for accuracy but good enough for plinking sody-pop cans in the back yard............B.
