About 26 years ago, earlier in my career, I purchased an automatic Benchmade, Mel Purdue design, small knife. It looks similar to the current Stimulus model.

Boom! The automatic spring broke! I'm heartbroken! But, with 26 years of hard use, nothing lasts forever!

I called Benchmade as I seemed to recall they offer a lifetime warranty and talked to a nice young girl named Shea.

She said to mail it in and they would fix it free. No questions asked. "Sweet!" I thought and I did.

She soon called and said they could not repair it because the parts are now obsolete. "We'll give you a $170 credit towards a new knife and free shipping."

I'm super OK with that because that's exactly what I paid for it many, many moons ago.

So I did the $170 free swap for this assisted model.

I've been a fan of Benchmade products for years. For daily clip-on pocket carry, I have this Elishewitz-designed Benchmade folder, and it's proved to be durable and quick to deploy. It's been with me for about 15 years! The AAA-batteried P1 mini-flashlight is bright, with 3 power levels, and is also very durable. It's said that you should always have a flashlight, a knife and a gun available on your person, and I agree.

I carry a knife every day, including Sunday. Six days a week I carry a nice little Benchmade Mel Pardue Presidio w/ the plain blade. On the seventh day ... I carry a nice little Benchmade Auto-Benchmite. Just right when wearing a suit or dress pants. Sincerely. bruce.

Congrats to the OP on great customer service from Benchmade. I carry the A/O version of the Barrage from time to time though the 615 Rukus is my favorite BM.

They're high quality knives for sure. I tend to lose knives, so carry cheapos. I have a few nice knives sitting in the safe, but won't carry anything over $30 or so.

I just bought my first Benchmade knife.

A relatively low cost model called a bug out.

Nice knife. Small, light, and we'll made.

So easy to carry I don't even notice it in my pocket.

If you're like me, you're going to LOVE that Barrage. :) Use it in good health!

I had to THROW ONE AWAY in the Denver Airport! I am still mad about it. Got in line and forgot it was in my pocket and my bags were checked. I wrote Benchmade telling them they should lobby for reasonable TSA regulations (I know, like lobbying for good government). Week later I received a new knife of the same model in the mail! With a letter from a VP saying good luck in trying to talk sense into TSA!

I have a benchmade EDC and 3 of their hunt series for deer hunting ,they have always had topnotch customer service and quality

Back when I purchased the original auto opener, it was all the rage with the officers. I had to have one and the cost was almost a weeks pay (IIRC) at $170. I'm thinking that we could buy a Smith model 64 for not much more (departmental prices).

So it was a big expenditure at the time. I still miss it as it was a big part of my life for so long. I will have to adjust to the new, larger Barrage. Looks to be a fine knife though.

Benchmade good

My every day carry is a Benchmade with partially serrated blade. Very useful tool often. It needs to go back for sharpening but I never get it done.
