I was scrolling through Armslist, when I saw $650 out the door or actually the garage. I sold a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley a few years ago and of course regretted it, but I got a little Bearcat so my boys could shoot revolvers. So not really a big regret.20211029_223951.jpg

I was quite happy with my plow handles. I had handled Colt Bisleys, and to me they felt extremely awkward, so I had no interest in a Ruger Bisley. Then the stainless one showed up at my gun pusher's. And it felt good. GOOD. So I bought it. And I shot it for a year or so, but it just felt wrong, in that it was a New Model action, and I really do not like New Models. So I decided to send it to Wes Flowers, out in California, and have it converted.

Then my lead came up to me at work with this blue 7½". He had bought it from another guy there, but decided that he did not like the feel, and since he knew that I liked guns he figured he could sell it to me. For $200 he was right.

I get back in touch with Wes and tell him that instead of sending him one to convert, I wanted to send him two, and the blue one needed to have a nose job.

Now I have a matched pair (except that one is fluted and one is not, and that one is blue and one is stainless) of 5½" Old Model Bisley Blackhawks in 45. The only way they could be better would be if they were convertibles.

I have one of Lipsey's Ruger Bisley in 44 Special Ruger. I like the grip much better than the typical plow handle style. The gun is very accurate and fits my hand nicely. It's a close second to my S&W Model 24's on the "like" scale. The only problem I've had is the screw in the ejector rod housing likes to loosen. When that happens, the ejector rod, spring and housing take flight down range. Thankfully, I've managed to find the screw - behind me. While Loctite would take care of this, I just try to remember to snug up the screw frequently.

I have one in .45 Colt that has had lot of work done by Lou’s Gun Works. It shoots like a dream.

Mine is factory stock. A couple inches off the barrel would make for a more comfortable belt carry gun. They do feel good in the hand, and handle recoil well.

Currently have two, both 41 mags. One is the Hunter version that needs to be shot, other is an early version that previous owner sent back to Ruger and they cut it down to 5&1/2. The next year Ruger offered shorter barrel option. It to needs to be shot. Finally stopped working this month so both will burn powder after deer season.
