Default Got to play with a few nice toys this weekend

I went to an air show this past Saturday that had a large contingent of WWII re-enactors with all their assorted weaponry. US GI's, British Tommies and SAS troops, SOE and Resistance operatives, Russian soldiers, and both Wehrmacht and SS German troops were represented. They had a large tent city near one end of the runway, but groups of these "soldiers" mingled with the crowd there to watch the airplanes. I was amazed that these guys were carrying around WMD's in public crowds, as most of these are fully functional, actual guns. I got a pretty good manual of instruction on the Bren machine gun. It's the first time I've had an opportunity to hold one, and its owner showed me how to field strip it, change barrels, and allowed me to do it. I also got to handle a MG42, which isn't my first time with one of these monsters; I got to fire one while stationed in Germany many years ago. I also got to mess with a replica M1A1 rocket launcher (Bazooka), a non-firing but accurately detailed replica. Pictures of all three below. I don't have pics, but I also got to play with a functional Sten Gun, MP40 submachine gun, a real, but inert Panzerfaust, a M2 mounted on an ammunition carrier, and most of the rifles and pistols used by the US, British, Russian and German forces. I was very impressed with the quality of the re-enactors' garb and their knowledge.
