Default Kel-Tec PMR30

One sweet firearm...

Bought mine back around 2012. It was my first real firearm. Bought extra mags before the ban took effect. It was a blast until all of a sudden it wouldn't feed ammo from the mag.

I tried different mags and different ammo but nothing fixed the problem. Like I said it was my first firearm so I had no idea what was going on. At that time I was buying whatever I could get my hands on so the Kel-Tec ended up in a drawer for ten years until yesterday.

I had given it a good cleaning before putting it away but pulled it out and started messing with it. I started racking the slide numerous times without a mag in place. All of a sudden this brass cylinder drops on the floor. I came to realize the last fired round never ejected. The rim and primer on the casing broke off leaving the rest of the brass stuck in the barrel.

Like I said it was my first firearm and I had zero experience in diagnosing any problem that occurred. I thought at the time that what I saw in the barrel was just part of the feed ramp.

I gave it another cleaning and tested a mag with one round in it. It worked as it is supposed to after several test feeds.

So today I went to the range with 8 fully loaded mags. The firearm functioned flawlessly. Not one FTF or FTE.

Maybe it was an omen because if it never malfunctioned I might not have the collection that I own today. Then again I might not have cared if I ever owned another firearm if it hadn't broke.

It is an accurate flame shooting firearm that draws attention with the best of them. My PMR is back in the lineup in it's rightful place that it lost 10yrs ago.

I can’t fall in love with mine. Mostly because it just spits grit at the shooter and I’ve heard others experience this also. I don’t find it attractive in any way, but it’s still stunning that you can load 30 rounds in to it.

I’m not sold on this being a gun that can withstand a high round count, but then again, I don’t see me ever actually shooting it that much.

It may be the least attractive looking handgun that I own.

Love mine...had always wanted one but the prices were out of sight...finally lucked into one under $400 and snapped it right up... Has digested everything but the underpowered Winchester Dynapoint ammo... And a friend has one who took his apart and polished out all the parts and his will run with them...

Too bad the ammo has gotten so expensive...

My wife and I each of one. I carry mine when I'm out on the tractor on our property. Sudden death on ground squirrels and feral cats. Mine runs without any issues. I own several KelTecs and have had good luck with all of them.

I enjoyed mine also and it had the same kind of story like yours. I bought mine back in 2015 and used it until it blew apart while at the range. Took me about 5 years to finally send it in for warranty work. I bought a CMR while it was away for two months. I got it back and used it a little and then sold them both this past summer because of ammo cost and trying to find it. I decided to go with 9mm instead 22mag and sold all my 22mag firearms. 9mm seems a little easier to find and usually cost less

I live in a residential area where shooting firearms for kicks is frowned upon although it hasn't stopped people from doing it.

I've got thousands of 22mag rounds that I stocked up on when I bought my pistol. The price of ammo in general will not be coming down with the influx of new gun owners. I enjoy shooting my PMR along with several other calibers at the range. If for no other reason I'm making sure they all function as designed. For me obliterating a 5 1/2" Caldwell target at 15' is sufficient accuracy for self defense at home. The PMR will stay close by while other firearms are also never far out of reach.
