Unfortunately, I don't personally own a 1911, although I did purchase a Ruger SR1911 NRA Edition as a gift for my brother last year.
The closest thing that I own to a 1911 is a TT-33C, which is basically a cross between a Browning 1903 and a 1911.

My 3 1911's
A Colt commercial from 1917 that is 1 serial number before a group commandeered by the Marine Corps just before the US entrance into WW1. It has the M1911A1 upgrades, but no military proof marks. This one is probably worth a letter from Colt.
Next is a Springfield Armory M1911A1 WWII clone. I bought it new in the early 2000's. Looks good, shoots great. When I win the lottery I'd like to have a 1943 vintage US&S. Until then, this fits the bill.
Lastly, a Colt Series 80 Commander. I bought this used from a forum years ago. It has a trigger that is excellent. Manufacture year is 2005.

1911, Post em up
Both are "Argentine" Systema's, both refinished and rebuilt. based on Colt's model 1927. Colt parts ( in most cases) drop right in. I used colt springs, pins.

1911s while they were never my choice for a carry pistol I did shoot them in competitions for years and accumulated some.
My Dad's Colt from WWll, 1948 super 38, I HAD this one for about 25 years. It always made me nervous in the safe because I would go a couple years between inspections. I posted some photos on the Colt forum and a collector/dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He was mostly interested in the box, which he said they only made for a few years. More than paid for a big new AMSEC safe.
A 6" longslide from SPFLD Custom. First one around 1999/2000 .This gun weighed 59 OZ empty, steel plates under the grips, fitted so nice you would hardly notice, and I liked the wider feel. Much trigger time behind this one. Some other custom shop guns PPC 5" and a couple bullseye 1911s, the open gun, I have hardly shot, soon to fix that and the hardball is unfired. Probably just shoot a 9mm for that now. SPFLD service match gun, plain Brazil frame. Just had a Nowlin barrel and bushing fitted and it shoots as good as any other one. Proved to me you didnt need to spend a ton to get a pistol that would shoot great. Just a good gunsmith again SPFLD Custom shop. Almost 20 years ago, dont know about today.
Some Marvel 22s and a Kimber SIS about it.

Ppara
Left a good one out. Para Hi-cap custom 9, 18+1. Fun to shoot. My only hicap 1911 and good accuracy out to 25 yds. I was always glad I bought this one especially after they went out of business. Poor mans STI. Now that all my old coworkers are carrying Staccatos.

This was my retirement present to myself several years ago. Pre 70 Colt Government Model .45ACP customized by my friend Don Fraley and engraved with 75th Ranger crest on one side and my PD patch on the other.
