Very cool! I'm going for a rack grade if CMP opens it back up to second timers.

Typical of the pistols that I carried in the military police. I am surprised by my feelings of admiration for these old warhorses.

My Ithaca/Ithaca is a service grade and has much better finish -- but for 20% more, it better...
I make that joke about once a month, myself (I live in WNY, so Ithaca comes up with relative frequency).

Congratulations! That rear sight is a little worse for wear but overall I like it!

Welcome to the Ithaca 1911A1 club! very nice.
Bought my 1943 Ithaca in 2007 from a collector of Winchester Rifles. He acquired two WWII 1911a1 when he bought an entire estate collection of rifles and they were included in the deal. All original and shoots great (when I shoot it about once a year).
Fortunate to have come across it and bought it then when prices were still reasonable on them. (Holster is reproduction). The knife is a WWII USN Mk II K-Bar.

The best GI 1911s are those that were liberated from the supply chain before they were shipped to fronts during WW2. Also more than a few snuck home in packages. I’m not into wanting a CMP 1911. I could kick myself for a couple I’ve had that were hidden away since pinched. They were pristine, all matching and if fired I couldn’t tell. I remember 50yrs ago nobody wanted a 1911 or an AR.

Got to run a few magazines through it and take it on a hike. Shoots dead on to point of aim, functions great, trigger remains great. Could not be happier.
