Default 2021 Colt Anaconda Questions

I know this is the S&W Forum, but I also know that the majority of you here are revolver lovers of all types like I am too. So I was hoping somebody might know the answer to my question, and save me the time of signing up for the Colt Forum...

Anyway, I am picking up an 8" 2021 Colt Anaconda today. I've been looking to get my hands on one for a while now, and one came my way for a price too good to pass up. It seems to me that the new Anacondas are built on the I-Frame rather than the Original V-Frame, so I have a couple questions:

When shopping around for alternate grips, (if I so choose) this means that I am shopping for Colt Python Grips instead of Anaconda grips, yes? Does this also mean that the old E/I-Frame target grips will fit as well? I have heard they fit the new Python just fine.

The my other question is, are the frames really the same, or is it an I-Frame in so far as the grip frame, but has additional strengthening in key spots, or are they truly identical like a N Frame Model 27 and Model 29?

Thanks.

The new Anaconda uses the same grips as the (new and old) Python, which is great, huge selection of after-market grips.

The frame of the new Anaconda is MUCH larger and heavier than the frame of the new Python, they only share the grip part. The frame of the new Anaconda could definitely handle more than .44 Mag, pretty sure they had that in mind when designing it. My guess is that there will be a .454 Casull Anaconda. You heard it here first.

Also: Congrats on your new 8" Anaconda! In my opinion, it's the prettiest of the large revolvers, Korth NXR included.

I'm a Colt fan as well and picked up my Anaconda a few weeks ago. I thought about getting different grips but while the factory ones don't look the best to my eye they are very comfortable for shooting.

What Mark8 said. And congrats on acquiring an excellent revolver. I have the 6 inch version, and am very happy with it. A little larger and beefier than a N frame for carry, they are beautiful to look at, very well made, and accurate. DA trigger pull is better than any of my N frames that have stock triggers. I replaced my stock grips with a set of Hogue wood grips marked to fit a Colt Python. They fit fine. I will add that when exploring grip fit, I read that grips designed for the original Anaconda will not fit the new model.

Thanks all, that's exacy what I needed to know. I thought they it looked bigger in the case at the LGS, but watching a couple comparison videos on YouTube had me second guessing, and then the whole thing with the grips threw me.

Dimensionally, is the new Anacondas close to the old one, just with a modified grip frame? Colt has made some changes in the lineup I've noticed to the sizing of a couple of the models, the King Cobra notably which has shrunk from its original frame size for the newer models.

Default Colt Anaconda grips

I purchased a set of Python pachmayr with covered back strap for my 2021 8” barrel Anaconda. Fit like a glove.
