Absolutely a spectacular addition to the Family
I am a big fan of slide action rifles
22LR came out some time in the late 1880s, You might want to give it a try

Oh man, congratulations, that’s a wish list rifle for me! Been wanting one for years. Love those old Colt Lightings, and to have it in .22 is an awesome find.
Local gun store near me had one in decent shape over the winter (not any nicer than yours), but it was around $4k +, and it was an old odd ball caliber. You stole that one, enjoy!
Oh, if you ever want to sell it, let me know, please…. .

I saw one about a month ago in a small gun shop is Pa. It was a .38-40 and they were asking $2400.00 for it. The rifle was only in about 20% condition or so.
Saw it the day after I bought a Pedersoli copy of the Colt Lightning Carbine in .45 Colt. Fun to shoot!
Nice piece, enjoy your!

Beautiful piece for sure. I see Colt produced 90,000 between 1887-1904 with round and octagon barrel. Price certainly a steal. Thanks for sharing.
