New To Me, But Not New…
Picked up this High Standard Sentinel 9 shot .22 magnum today. Nothing fancy or special, I just love the blued guns with wood grips. For my tastes, just so much cooler than all the plastic guns out there.

Most of my collection was bought as used shooters, and they all still work. Would you mind telling me what you like about 22 Mag? I hope you enjoy it many safe years.

Good for you. A nine shot 22 mag sounds like lots of fun. Looks great.

Good for you! I've wanted one of those since I used to shoot one in the basement of the gun shop I worked in on my lunch hour in the 70s. An underappreciated gem.

Even in a short barreled revolver, the .22 mag has about a 300 ft/sec advantage over .22 LR ammo. This revolver will be used for walking the dogs at night and a ranch gun here in TN. Coyotes at night and snakes by day (rattlers and Copperheads) will be the main reasons.

A nice find. Those rarely turn up for sale in my area.

That's got to be cheaper than the 351 PD I bought a couple of years back. And I bought it for the same reason! I'm happy with my S&W for sure, but I would have loved to run across one of those at half the price! And two more rounds!
Congratulations! I like it a lot!

Nice. That’s a perfect kit gun. Wheres the cylinder latch? Right side?
Or am I blind?

No cylinder latch. Pull out ejector rod slightly, cylinder pushes open

Love those. I had one many years ago with a slightly longer barrel and it was a very handy handgun. Mine did have sticky chambers causing difficult extraction. I polished it but this was before I knew how easy it was to get a finishing reamer and doing it right.

A magnum at night from a 2 inch barrel. You need to hit that coyote with the first one, because you're going to be flash blinded for about the next 10 minutes.
