Found A Treasure in My safe: 30 Lugar
A very long time ago I had a collection of German guns: Lugars, Mauser Broomhandles, hunting rifles and shotguns, all are gone but a few and one loitered in the back of the safe. The very last of a collection that I loved to shoot with this one exception. The case caught my attention first and then the gun. It is WWI 9mm Lugar converted to 30 Lugar per the Versailles Treaty. Somewhere in its history it was made into a "presentation" piece. I was told that these appear ever so often as GI "bring backs" after WWII when Germans were not allowed to own firearms, but they were allowed to work on those owned by American soldiers. It caught my fancy and I laid out about $200 back in the day, the mark was 4 to 1 at that time. I have never shot it although I do have a box of bullets for it. Just remembering days long ago.

What type of tow vehicle do you need for a 30mm Luger. I assume it's not self propelled. ;-D

I have dug through my safe numerous times, but I have yet to unearth a Luger. Enjoy the memories.

The original caliber was the bottle-neck 7.65mm Parabellum, giving the pistol its original German name of “Parabellum-Pistole”.
The commercial version retained that name, vs. the 9mm Parabellum version added at the request of the German Navy and then Army, which in common German parlance became the “Null-acht” (zero-eight). The .30 Luger name for the 7.65mm was invented by DWM’s US agent Hans Tauscher since it seemed snappier than Parabellum for the American market.

When I worked in a gun store I got way too many people asking for 40mm ammo when they meant .40 S&W.
I thought it was funny but usually I got blank stares when I asked them back "Smoke or HE?"

About the same reaction I got from the cardiac surgeon when he told me the blockage in my artery was calcified and I suggested using a little C-4.
